Natural locks can start around 5 inches. They may not start to form locks at that length, but they will definitely section themselves. You may start to see some knotting and looping.

No reason to wait. If you are going natural, you can really start at any length

No reason to wear anything to bed. Just them rubbing on your pillow creates enough friction. They will tangle just fine. Plus most of the time, whatever your war when you go to bed falls of in the middle of the night, anyway

Welcome. But beanies are too tight and will prevent locking and may even force them to grow flat. If you want to wear a hat, get a tam. They are roomy and let your hair move around freely inside. But hats aren't necessary at all. The make you have to separate your locks more often

First, I'd recommend you wash more often. 2-3 times a week is best.

I haven't had lice or any bugs so far. Eagle just recently had a case of lice. He'd be better to talk to about it. I know how to treat them. But if you haven't seen any in a while and treated for them for so long, you're probably fine.
