Welcome. At 1 month, if your locks are even a little still in place, I'd bet your house that there is still wax in them. How did you go about trying to remove it?
Wax is a hydrocarbon. That means that no matter how much hot water and normal soap you use, it will never come out completely. The hot water even causes most of it to just melt deeper into your locks where it's hidden, but causing just as much problem.
Dawn Dish soap is the cheap method to get rid of wax. or you can buy the wax remover from dreadlockshampoo. It works better and faster. The dreaducation page shows a great way to get wax out. Or I can give you some tips.
The process of removing wax is tedious and aggressive. At 1 month, there are not permanent knots formed that will hold there shape during this process. If any do, wax and it's residue will stay trapped in little grooves and tucked behind knots
