Welcome to the community and to your new dreading journey. There are a couple of videos on here that help show how to separate sections that are joined together: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/video/separating-tutorial http://www.dreadlockssite.com/video/separating-tutorial-part-2 At the roots they should be just a little attached, like spiderwebs, this protects the scalp.

It would be nice to get dreads done in Turkey, but like mentioned, most of them will crochet hook them, which tears the hairs, making the dreads weak. Most of them also add wax or gels, which is a big no no when it comes to healthy dreads.

The best method is neglect/free form, this is where you grow your own letting it all happen naturally.....The next best method is twist & rip, with no products added.....The third best method is back combing with no products added............So....if you could get someone there to T&R or back comb them without adding anything into them,,,nothing,,,,then that would be really cool to get them done there, certainly would be a memory you would always have. Check out on the web to see if you can find a place to get them done there, ask if they are willing & experience in doing it T&R or Back combed....Sure, you can do either of those two yourself at home, but it would be memorable as said.....good luck, hope you find a place.....peace
