Welcome. What do you do to maintain them? Dreadlocks don't need any maintenance. Any maintenance past washing and separating them will cause more damage than good
Washing 203 times a week is actually better for helping locks form. I used to wash once a week. You really should wash pretty much whenever you get the itch to wash. If you feel grimy, if you itch, it you got random dirt/mud in your hair.
I wouldn't recommend washing every day. But every other day to ever third day is great for helping your locks along. A clean scalp lets hair lock faster, too.
The damage done by palm rolling can't be fixed by any change in my washing routine, anyway. I have to patiently and gently wrap the new growth around the roots of the damaged locks to the lock. I don't interlock, or do any other maintenance that would harm my locks. I don't even tie anything tightly. I just encourage the new growth to grow into the lock. It's a long process. I've been at it for a few years. It is slowly getting better around all but 1 lock. And that could be because of myrecedinghairline, anyway
I started 2 with back combing, but let the go after that. 2-3 I TnR'd. But let them go natural. The rest were free formed. I did use rubber bands for a week or so. But they ripped out too much hair, so I stopped. I palm rolled 5 and it destroyed my roots. I posted a video on my page showing the damage. 6 years later I'm still trying to fix it.
I just let most of them congo now. I had 23 to start with, now I only have 15 or so. I love fat locks.
No idea. Somewhere around 6 years old. They were between 5 and 6 years old a few months ago. So I guess they are closer to 6 or even past it now. I stopped caring about how old my locks were the day after I decided I wanted to grow them
Sometimes is takes a while. I didn't see any change in my hair fr about a year. Ixchel just started seeing change after 8 months. 1 year for mature locks is average. But some of us are the outgroup that takes an age. It would happen eventually. But sometime you need a little push
your already a few months in dont bother starting over unless its really important to u to do the naural way u didnt wax or crochet so they wont be screwed up by how u started so u might s well let em be
