Neck problems while running

General Questions

I was thinking about this today too!! Well, I wasn't running a marathon though, haha I run on a regular basis, and usually wear myhair in a gigantic bun. It was killlinnggg my neck today. I'm gonna try some teddy ear buns instead. I'll look like a total tool, but oh well. XD As long as they're out of my face.

Sea salt mixture & hard water

General Questions

hm. What's your salt/h2o ratio? For it to make *any* difference in myhair, Ihad to use a super-strong mixture -- 1 tbsp salt for every 8 oz water. It doesn't dry out myhair, but myhair's pretty much invincible.

are my bangs causing issues with "locking"?

General Questions

Yep, it was the same way for me before I dreaded my bangs. Nothing to worry about. Sounds like Brandi has a good idea there. :)

Should I sleep on my hair or put it aside?

Dread Maintenance

More tangles = more dreads.

Yes. Sleep on it.

Sacrificing a dread for a worthy cause, so noble of you. :) haha. Yeah, most types ofhair damage come and go, but wax is forever. :s

Scraggly back of head dreads

General Questions

Do you sleep on your back? If so, that might be why they're going flat back there...

Dawn Ultra Dish Soap

Dread Maintenance

Try using a natural dish soap -- you'll get the same effects without frying yourhair (as much, at least. haha)! I used to use Ology dish soap from Walgreens once a week, and it worked very well. Better than baking soda.

Definitely follow it up with an ACV rinse, though. It's still a tad drying.

I don't wash my hair, am i alone?

Dread Maintenance

You're definitely not alone. I've heard of countless other dreadies that choose not to wash, but I personally don't think it's the best idea. As you can see, a lot of other people here feel the same way about it, too.

Do you need to wash your hair every day? No, no, no. Especially not if you have dreads.

Do you need to use shampoo/conditioner when you wash? Mmmnope, baking soda and ACV are worlds better for you, the environment, and heck, even your wallet.

But washing your hair is, and hopefully always will be, part of maintaining proper hygiene. Washing a couple times a week with something that balances your scalp's pH dramatically decreases sebum production, but it won't make your hair/scalp invincible. There's still dust, germs, and other assorted forms of grime in your house, at your place of work...everywhere you go. It may not look like it's in your hair, but it is.
