You can rub the scalp just really gently, like you're stoking a baby bird haha

Yep just leave the totally alone. Palm rolling doesn't have any effect on the dread accept maybe make them a bit neater with the loose hair for a couple of hours. Its also damaging since it can make the roots really thin with the rolling. Just wash, separate, have patience and enjoy the journey.

Help! Save My Dreads

The loosening up and parts of it coming apart sounds completely normal, this happens to some people through their process. Just keep doing what you're doing and try not to panic about it (i did on my first set), as for the oily gunk coming off your fingers this could be something to do with the bs/acv. Have you tried doing the baking soda in hot water and waiting for it to cool as it won't dissolve like it's suppose to in cold water.

Peace and love.

Introduce Yourself

Oh gosh that took so much to stay quiet reading that, good on you SE for making very valid points. If he thinks like that then he doesn't deserve to be on this site or with this community.

Introduce Yourself

I guess it just depends on who the person is who is having the dreads. Whether they decide to maintain or not maintain and what way they go. I believe that the dreads form in their own way depending on whose head they're on, that persons character and their way of life.

Much love and peace to everyone.

Not necessarily true and uniform twist and rip. I done twist and rip on my own hair but pulled out random sections and have let them go naturally, they look like neglect dreads just with the head start on the sections. I guess if all depends on how you do them and what you want the initial outcome to be like.Peace and love

Hmm.. Residue, or something else?

Dread Maintenance

I agree just keep giving it thorough rinses out and see if that makes any different. Goodluck man!

Dread Maintenance

Hey man, there was a post on this a few months ago so shall try and find it for you, can't even remember what it said. Couldn't you try a few washes with baking soda and apple cider vinegar to give it a deep clean and see if this changes anything? I'm not much help here, give me a pm whenever you get the chance, need a well deserved catch up.

Peace and Love.
