Thin haiirr!

General Questions

Your hair looks like it is doing well! It looks like strands are starting to make friends and clump together? Just leave them to do their thing.

A few things you could try to help them form:

  • Spray them with a sea salt solution a few hours before washing (or better yet, swim in the ocean if you can).
  • Keep them free of oils, I don't know how often you wash your hair but clean hair dreads faster and try not to touch them that only spreads the oils!
  • Wear a wool hat

I'm glad to hear that you removed the wax! That stuff is a pain!

6 DAYS IN HELP!!!!

dread wax and dread kits recovery

Don't worry about them too much Whitney. I started mine with wax too (big mistake) but I took the time and removed the wax (not the dreads) and they're turning out great! I'm almost at 7 months now.

Just For Fun

General Talk

When I started I had 52 little monsters and have kept them by waging war on all gnomes and congos, it has been quite a battle but I've kept all 52 dreadlocks. I have been waiting for the hair that is in front of my ears to grow (and that is just above the sideburns area, whatever that is called, lol) which should make 2 more VERY small dreadies!

Introduce Yourself

What method did you start with? When did you start? How much is not dreaded?

Make sure you wash your dreads regularly.

Dreadlock Picture Gallery

Miss Krystaal Rain had been dreading for 9 years (as of 2010, brushed out in 2011). Her dreadlocks are natural and I think are amazing. Anyway I thought you guys would find them pretty sweet too, so yeah, here you go:

I had some pretty big curls before dreads too. Check 'em out: http://dreadlockjourney.com/baby-dreadlocks/

Relax and rock them! It's part of the journey!
