Hello all!

Introduce Yourself

Thank you so much, you are absolutely right! I have had to push myself many times in this manner and am usually glad that I did.

Welcome. Your locks are amazing. Whatever you're not doing to get them like that, keep it up.

We try to be very friendly and open minded here. All we care about is healthy locks. So please don't be afraid to pop your head in and give your 2 cents. You must have some opinion about what works and what doesn't.

I don't mean to pry, but I have to say that I believe that one of the best ways to reach inner peace is to push yourself past your comfort zone once in a while. I know you have a family to take care of, but don't let being shy keep you away

Hello all!

Introduce Yourself

Hello! Just found and joined a few minutes ago. I have been locking up for 4 1/2 years now (2nd set), started with backcombing. Not much into maintenance as it doesn't do a damn thing for my hair and I am a bit to lazy and way too busy with 4 kids. Also way against wax and yuck in my hairs, but to each his own. If it works for you, who am I to say what someone else does with their hair.

My 17 year old son has also been locking for about a year now. We started his through twist and rip. They are eFFn awesome.

So that is the oldest of my brood. My 12 year old tried to go the neglect method but he wasn't into ripping them apart and I just did not think he was ready to deal with how nasty people can be when they see hair in that state. So I told him to wait awhile longer.

I have been a member of KL, Get Up Dread Up (livejournal) and hip forums for years. I am more of a lurker and occasional commenter because I am very shy and have social anxiety. So that is me in a nut shell. A few pics shall we?

I think they were about 1 1/2 here.

My version of dreaded liberty rolls. Recent webcam shot. Looks like I have a little ram horn curl going on with the bleached one, heh.

I hope to be able to post more here than I have places in the past. But between being busy with work n kids and just being plain shy, it will be a challenge.

Happy Dreading!

The Doll

I give up...

Member Journals and Timelines

Well, well said man! Every dread head needs to see this! I slowly came to this myself. The only thing I do now is crochet a few bits on my neck just because the feeling of them hanging down when my hair is up bothers me. But they don't even stay, comes out in three weeks, lol.

Free your mind

Free your soul

Free your hair!

That's what it's all about.

My greatest decision in life :)

Introduce Yourself

Your hairs are beautiful, as are you. I went through the same thing as you. Thinking I wanted perfectly maintained, uniform dreads. Didn't take me long to get over that! heh I quickly fell in love with all the lumps, bumps and craziness. Even after almost 5 years (next April), I can't keep my hands out of them.

the "don't worry about shrinkage" tnr timeline (4 years)

Dayum that was some shrinkage. Your hair knows how to lock! But these pics just go to show, no matter how they start, they end up all good. Just gotta have patience! Wonderful set, I love the colors.
