Dreadlock extentions

General Talk

I live in France and I read an article in a newspaper here about the same thing happening in a night club in Paris a few months ago.

Natural process 9 months.. doubts

Introduce Yourself

I hope you didn't decide to cut them. They look like they're growing perfectly to me. I've been growing my locks 9 months now too and I don't think they're as far along as yours.

Advice and inspiration for my mum, please.

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

Hi, my mum who is 59 and has waist length straight grey hair wants to start dreads. I think she will look very beautiful. I have told her to go for the natural method and just stop brushing. She would like some suggestions on what to do with her hair while it is in the process as she doesn't feel comfortable going out with it down ... she has worn it all up every day for the last fifteen years or so. Could you also recommend some photos on here of some more mature ladies and gents with dreads to inspireher a bit? Thanks in advance everyone.

Natural Hair Dyes

General Questions

Hiya Knotlady, yes it does loosen baby dreads a bit. It didn't seem to make my hair completely un knot or anything though. The great thing about applying henna to dreads is that the hair is presectioned so it is quick and easy, plus you only need about half the quantity you would use on un dreaded hair. When you make up your henna mix though you need to make it more liquid, apparently this is particularly the case on mature dreads as they drink the moisture up like sponges and then the henna falls off!

Natural Hair Dyes

General Questions

I use henna. I've used it for years and have continued to do so since starting dreads. What you want is body art quality henna, it is triple sieved making it wonderfully smooth to apply and easy to rinse out of dreads. This site is a great source of info: http://www.hennaforhair.com/

Dreading Methods

I just tried rubbing my hair with a wool scarf yesterday after reading your post and I am reallyquite impressed by the difference it seems to make. Thanks for the tip!
