Interlochen?

General Talk

Has anyone gone to this school? It's a performing/creative arts boarding school, that is internationally and critically acclaimed. It sounds absolutely magical. Like something every artist should experience. I'm pretty bummed out because it's over 50,000 dollars a year. That's insane! I could never ask my parents for that. I would kill to go though. I don't know, maybe senior year if we start saving and I get a job. AAHH, I'm rambling.

If you have gone, what's it like!? How hard is it to get in? Is the financial aid that hard to get? What'd you go for?

wkhfoowjh9uwgf;kjwwjiwwgddweddpwfjoow, I'm so hyped over something that might not even happen. buuuuuuuuuuuuuterflllliiiiiiiiieeeeeeeesssssssss.

What Do you do?!?!

General Questions

I just posted a couple horror stories about this in another thread but to summarize it all people will smell and touch your hair. Maybe not smell, but I got my dreads sniffed.

Honestly, you have to enhance your calm and lay out your healthy boundaries. If they have healthy boundaries themselves they will stop. I was like you at first and got pretty mad when people just touched my hair, but it happens so often you just learn to get used to it.

Can nursing students live on campus?

I live in Maryland.

Of course they can! Some colleges require you to live on campus your first year(especially if you just graduated high school) but others give you an option. Where are you located?

Nusing job with dreads?

dreads jobs employment issues

thank you guys so much! I wasn't really sure but I think you guys are right. As long as I keep them well maintained and I learn some nice ways of doing them I'll be fine. It's good to hear from some actual nurses who have dreads and some people who have seen nurses with dreads. You're so right Star, I shouldn't let it define me. Thanks guys.

Nusing job with dreads?

dreads jobs employment issues

I plan on going to nursing school when I graduate, so I was wondering if I can keep my dreads?

I want to now now if I can keep my dreads as a nurse, because if I can't then I would rather get the shaved head out of the way now, you know. Mom said I am worrying too much about the future but at least by the end of high school and nursing school I would have a decent amount of hair on my head.

So, what do you guys think.

Don't sugar coat it either, I would like to actually know.

xxox

Happens all the time at my new high school! The other day a girl, let's call her Jessica just took my hair out of the headband bun it was in and started grabbing handfuls, and I couldn't stop her because I was holding a plate of beef liver for biology. Then she proceeded to call all her weirdo friends over to take turns grabbing at my hair. Eventually I tossed the plate onto the table and made them stop. Later I learned Jessica has always had extreme boundary issues. That really doesn't make it okay though.

Another thing I have noticed is people smell my hair A LOT. This one chick named, uh let's go with Jackie just stuck her nose into my bun on the first day of school! Has that ever happened to you guys? It was super weird.

Another time I laid my head down in class (Finished early) and I sat up and like two or three people were rolling my dreads, it was super freaky, I thought they were performing a cult ritual on me. so not cool

Also in the first week of school I was sitting with my new friends and I left to go to the bathroom, when I came back they wouldn't look at me. So eventually I convinced the hair sniffer girl to tell me what was up, this one girl told all of them people with dreads don't wash their hair and they never have. I flipped out on her, like that is totally not okay. It's like I need a hoodie that says YES, I WASH MY DREADS. I explained the whole situation though, still super annoying.

I don't usually mind if you touch my hair without asking but sniffing it is too far even for me. Plus taking my hair out of the bun? You guys know how much work it is to put dreads into a neat pony tail, a lot.
