would the rip and tear method be good to get my natural ones started?

General Questions

Yeah I think the sea salt will be good for my hair. I'm starting to feel like I need to wash. So today or tomorrow I'm getting all the ingredients I need for the bs/acv wash. I have a few recipes that I got from around the site. :)

You do not need to do anything else. Anything else you do to set the stage will just reset the progress to day one.

If you want to do anything, you can use sea salt in spray bottle, or your wash (If you use the BS/SCV wash/ When wixing sea salt, make sure you don't go over 3.5% salt to water. This is what ocean water is like. You want it as close to ocean water as possible.

Also, when looking at sea salt, in the store, look for the anti-caking agent. Many use Potassium Ferrocyanide. This is toxic when mixed with a strong acid. ACV is not strong, but better to be safe. Mine uses Calcium Silicate, which the FDA never approved for human consumption. It's used as a safe alternative toasbestos, and to waterproof concrete. Be careful with what you get. Even something as simple as salt still may contain harmful ingredients.

General Questions

I started out with a light backcomb probably 45 minutes. I've been thinking should I do something else? But I take the thought out of my mind because I have faith and I know that my hair will dread up if I just leave it alone :)

Alright! Thank you! That's really the comment that I have been waiting for! Nobody I know personally has dreads. One video online after backpmbing looks similar to mine ryanoriley on YouTube. I just needed some actual feedback :)

I understand that that back combing isnt needed to start dreads but I felt comfortable doing it. Thank you and I look foreward to everyone's tips and feedback along the way.

Hi. I'm ontanae :) I've been thinking about getting dreads for about a year now. I see a lot of pictures of what dreads turn out when back combed but I wanted to know is right after the back combing. Does my hair look right for just being back combed or does it need a little more? That's my only question. Other than that I am VERY excited to be able to eventually become part of the dreaded family :)

General Talk

Im young and i dont know much but I think that if one person has their belief and they stick to that, who's to say there isn't more out there? Just because people believe in one thing doesnt mean they have to think that everyone elses beliefs are Wrong. There's many things that humans haven't discovered yet. So many galaxies that us as humans can't even reach. What I'm saying is I'm open minded to anything and just because I have my personal beliefs doesn't necessarily mean that's the ONLY right one. Adam, you have your beliefs, and all of us here respect that. As you should respect what all the people on here believe. Whether you think it right or not.
