I see alot of talk about hard water and soft water. What does that mean.

is there any benefit to dreading my hair early?

I think im gonna let it get to at least six inches.

I really don't want short dreads but if it's easier to start my dreads short and let it grow dreaded i would do it. Just wanted to know if there were any pluses or minuses.

I never did an introduction post so here it is.

Introduce Yourself

My name is Zach and I love on a farm in Kenna, WV. I'm currently growing out my hair to dread. I'm glad I came across this site because I was set on buying a DreadHQ kit.
I'm a really big fan of movies and music. I love way to many genres of music to list but I particulary listen to punk/ska/reggae/dub/hip hop. I've also played in several bands but I don't have nearly enough time anymore. As far as movies go I usually stick with classic horror (especially film noir from the 50's)
I really appreciate the help people from this site have given me.

Hair growth.

Introduce Yourself

My hair is too short to dread still (about 3 inches long). I know patience is important but are there any tricks to making hair grow faster?
