hey, im a newbie around here too, but after lurking for a week with the odd post i have had someinvaluable advice, the people are great and always willing to help....enjoy your dread journey
i have week old dreads and have started adding beads, they are a great help in making them lay flatter and they definitely seem to be helping with the locking process. i rarely wear bodyjewellery but i have a feeling my dreads will end up with lots of beads/jewels, anything i can attach
i seem to have a mixture of tight ones and loose, but im kinda liking the fact theyre all so different and thanx for the advice i will def get both oils.

Them coming loose is expected. Don't worry about them. They'll get pulled back together soon enough. While you're out, get the Teartree. But also pick up peppermint if you don't have it. peppermint has an amazing cooling and soothing effect. Don't over use it, though. Peppermint is strong and is more caustic to your skin that other essential oils. But diluted in water or jojoba oil, it s your best friend for fighting the itchies
nah im just comparing the itching to lice, i have been washing my hair with BS/ACV for a few weeks already, i just washed it and for now the itching seems to have eased. im gona get some teatree oil in a few days so hopefully that will help? altho a few dreads seems to have come very loose, but i think i expected this to happen

Have your washed them yet? If not, wash them. As your head gets used to locks, it does itch. You need to get used to a new type of washing regiment. You'd know if you had lice. It's wouldn't just be itching. It would be kind of painful. Lice bite. Try washing with the BS/ACV wash. If you had lice, the ACV would burn a little bit. If not, it'll feel so soothing. Washing in general is soothing.
Why do you think you might have lice? Have you done anything or been anywhere that you may have caught them from?
i now have a head full of 2 day old dreads, i love them but my head is itching like i have a head full of lice :/ is this normal??
i will i will upload a photo in the next few days. iv made a sea salt mixture which seems to be drying my hair out so hopefully that will help with the oilyness

hey, so i have decided to try a mixture of neglect (again) and back combing several dreads. mostly so i can see what the difference is in how well the locks do in each situation. i currently have 6 dreads, that stick up like sideshow bobs ha and some very messy hair. im planning to do a few more at the nape tonight as i feel thats the area i may need help with, last time i tried neglect that part just seemed to be one big dread. anyway i would like to thank everyone for their help and advice so far
my hair is oily within a few hours of washing, i hoped not conditioning would help but it didnt :/ i think ive made up my mind to make them rather than wait, am just not sure which would be the best method, there is so much conflicting advice out there...it confuses me haha

ok heres what you do
continure to wash weekly with baking soda no acv add thyme tea to the bs or as a spray on the scalp to be left on
this will slowly make u ess p]oily its the oils that are the issue not the finess
actualy might be better to wash 2x a week at what day do u usualy start getting oily? wash the day after that
then extend it another day till u can go 4 days without being oily at all then just keep wasgh]=hing on that 4th day
add lil sea salt to the mix too
\when it shifts from oily to too dry start slowly ading an acv rinse after the bs but really weak at 1st
im kinda thinking i lack the patience to wait for natural locks, altho im now wondering if this is a good time to learn more patience with everything in my life as i see this as a journey rather than a fashion statement. i would love to see pics of your hair when its done?

My hair is pretty fine and on the straighter side too but I don't think that would be a problem. I've seen plenty of people with reeeeally fine straight hair have awesome natural dreadlocks.
Me, I'm getting my head twist n ripped tonight because I am too impatient to wait on the natural process lolol. I don't like how the back combed dreads look compared to the natural and tnr methods.

when i tried to go natural i washed once a week with baking soda and thats it, i tried to not touch my hair at all and never finger brushed. the closest i got was one matted but underneath at the back, the rest just didnt do anything apart from look messy. i have very fine dead straight hair so not sure of that had something to do with it?
