BS w/o ACV any good?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

heya!

from what i have found is the BS wash dried my scalp alot, the ACV is used to balance out the PH in youre hair (hair is slighty acidic and BS is alkaline, AVC acid) my scalp was getting itchy and it stared to flack. useing the ACV is working a treat so far. Opoion differs some people say use it with every wash some people say every so often is fine. its about finding waht works for you :)

hope this helps,

Help?!

Introduce Yourself

Heya

this is a good place to start http://www.dreadlockssite.com/page/dreading-methods i did a lot of reading before i started to dred and went with what felt right for my hair type. From what i know you're dreds will tighten over time and try not to worry about thin dreds, I have all diffirent sizes. Thinner round the front and getting thicker towards the back.

I dont wear a wrap at night as this seems to be a good time to let dreds be dreds. As you move around in the night all the friction can help you're dreds form. A wrap would proboly slow this process down.

Hope this helps, and keep reading ^ . ^

what has been the best part of your journey?

General Talk

Best thing about having dreds so far is spending time with my family and friends while they put one in for me, giving us both a chance to sit and have a good chin wag. Also they give me a reason to spend time by my self for myself, something that i have always found hard to do.

If you're getting oily faster, it means that your scalp is too acidic. As much as you should be using the ACV to reset your scalp to a healthy pH, you should not be using much at all, right now. Use about 1 capful of it in 1 gallon of water once a week. If you wash 2-3 times a week, DON'T use the ACV rinse in all of them. Just pick one day to use. it When your scalp stops being oily, you can start to introduce the ACV to each wash. But again, only use about 1 capful in 1 gallon of water.

Your hair and scalp will readjust and you will begin to be able to use more in time.

Apple Cider Vinegar wash

So i fianly got hold of some ACV (lovley folks in the health food shop, very helpfull) and im rather egar to start useing it. The ratio i have is 1 tablespoon ACV to about 5cups water. What i'm looking for is when to use it. should i rinse out the BS first, then do the AVC or put the ACV on top of the BS then wash it out all together?

Looking forward to locking up soon
