Black Cube block type thing

Dread Products

Might be African black soap. If so, I have read that it's conditioning, so may not be the best for starting locks? I'm sure others will comment...

When you say "washing"

Introduce Yourself

Shower cap might actually trap some heat and steam in your hair for longer than you want? I imagine that as they lock up it would promote mold. I have to break this habit, too, just in case - we live in a humid area, so mold is no joke

HELP HELP PLEASE! SOMEONE PLEASE REPLY!

Help! Save My Dreads

Carefully remove the rubber bands as soon as you can. Then take your time and read "dreaducation". You can fix it. But for now take out the bands, have a nice wash if your head feels greasy (the formula above is great, but don't stress if you need to wash once with another shampoo while you learn the ropes) - they may fall apart, but that's ok, and otherwise let them be. Use pure 100% aloe if you need to tame it, but better not to put anything on them and just let them be frizzy for a while.

I notice that sweaters with thick boucle yarn help a bit because my hair "sticks" to it more and moves in ways it may not otherwise move on cotton or smooth fabrics

dreadlocks and how they change you

Member Journals and Timelines

Beautiful. May I ask what you did with them? For me, they would need ritual of some sort; but maybe you chose a different route?

Thin Hair on Scalp.... Opinions..

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I found an article that may help, if you are up for some "alternative" approaches. It mentions the scalp massage and more http://yinovacenter.com/blog/archives/5057/

The Demon Drink

General Questions

If you justify your drinks, you will want to keep a careful eye on the habit over time - maybe even track it with a journal to get a clear picture of any adjustments you end up making to the plan. Just a suggestion, since you appear to have a scientific leaning.I was a binge drinker, and didn't have success with the limitation program - it broke down after a while and I was back to over-consuming and blanking out. Turns out I even had an IgG (low level) allergy to components of my drinks of choice, which may have actually made me drink more to compensate for feeling out of sorts.I quit by cleaning up my diet and meditating to clear my head. I choose not to attend drinking events, unless I only plan to stay for a short while. I ask my true friends to meet me elsewhere, where they can have a drink if they want, but it's not a bar atmosphere. I miss my old drinking buddies, but most were not deep or healthy relationships. The real friends followed me out of the bar, so to speak. This thread may help a lot of people - thanks for bringing it up.

Super soft hair

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Hair will go through a sort of "detox" after conventional products are stopped. Texture may continue to change over weeks and months. Your hair is also no longer coated with silicones and other nasties, so it is more alive and will have even more of a personality ;)
