ask panterra about the dangers of lemon juice she can explain it in far greatter detauil then i can
do not use lemon juice in dreads its corosive it seeps into the inner layer of the hair shaft past the cuticles into the layer contasining the pigmentation there it breaks it down slowly
thats why it lightens hair like bleach but being acu]idic it breaks the hair down
its especialy bad on color treatted hair that already has that layer somewhat compromised
sea salt itself shouldnt need to be refridgerated but u can if u want
its a no scrub so pour and soak
1-2 tablespoons bs per cup water
add a couple drops eacgh oil u want per cup
pour on
soak 10 min
rinse
same ammount acv or lil less if young dreass
pour on
if young rinse right away
if old soak 3 min then rinse
optional add tablespooon sea sa.lt
well its a double edged sword i guess the wax pushers pronmice perfect dreads but they never are perfect and require rediculouse ammounts of work to even look ..dreadlike
but on the other hand theres the sticky icky grossness stiffness and just the way they feekl..unreal unatural coated
its like the difference in fruite..apples as an example
an organic apple tastes so much better tho might not have the perfect pretty factor that a wax coated apple wiyld have
then to the other extreme is wax apples just for decoration inedible..fake
from the organic side thats as healthy for you as an apple can be fresh no preservatives no toxins like insectacides and herbacides..just an apple as an apple should be
then theres the waxed apple still apple inside most likel loaded with chemicals and covered in wax looks prertty but the wax has to be removed b4 eating to not taste waxy
then the extreme the wax apple no apple just wax but eternal perfection thats the image of the apple your sold the ideal yiou think all apples should look like so as you shop your drawn to the waxy apples thinking thats what apples should look like (if you never picked 1 off a rteee in natur that is)
ofcourse its not the healthy best option in fact more toxic but its pretty and resembles the "perfect" image that is the fakme apple..or dreadlock
after a year of polling the results are in the polls were removed because i accidently deleted 1 but heres the results
dread wax polls
1st poll overall satisfaction with wax
note out of 765 votes almoszt every satisfied vote was recorded in the 1 week peruiod jioonny clean from dreadheadhq was on our site debating the wax issues (and failing) it seems he recruited followers to take the poll but lets assume these numbers still represent a cross secr=tion of society and take it as raw data)
conclusions
slightly more people had to start over then were ever satisfied with wax the number satisfied after 4 years when they become gross dropped by 1/2
nearly 1/2 knew to never use wax and the vast majority thart used wax never would again
question 2
how long did your wax/ no wax dreads last
note this poll was added recently so the number of votes was very low and cannot be said to accurately repressent a opercebntage however it still shows what would be expected from results
conclussion
most waxy dreass were started over very early when they felt gross
as time went on fewer and fewer survived while more and more wax free dreads survived
nearing the 15-20 year mark none survived
gaving no wax in dreads does increase the life expectency
natural dreads polls
question 1 how long did it take your hair to recognized as dreaded
poll notes the wax pushers insist that natural dreads always take 4 or more years rto even beginto dread and look ugly and scary during this time
conclusion although a rare few have taken over a year more had dreads in just weeks and the vast majority only a couple months
questions 2 and 3
how long did it take to mature
have you used other methods would you again
question 2 poll notes maturity is viewed diferently by diferent people but no matter the method its generally agreed to be between 1 and 2 years
conclusion theres virtualy no difference in time till maturity in almost all cases
question 3 notes
the 5 never went naturakl nefver would responces can be assumed they had bad info and no idea what they were missing or why its overwghelmingly preffered
conclusion
drasticly greatter satisfaction and loyalty
way more who used other methods before would only usenatural in the future then those who went natural and would concider other methods
full poll conclusions
the wax pushing sites lied to you claiming everyone preffers waxed andnaturalk dreads are undesirable
final notes these polls were open to all not only members but guests as well and only 1 vote per user was allowed
post pics
if u tnr the ends ..once u may du[isturb some progresw it may help as bit but if they unragvel again doing it again will just set u back to square 1
if yiu do add beads
or just dont and add beads
tho posting pics will help chances are its not as vad as u think
but
how are u washing techniquewise
what are u washing with'
how do u dry
and
how longs it
really tho your in that stage where backcombing falls apart alot if u still have knots ..any knots just stick it out 1 single knot will gather more as time goes by
its round the 3 month mark that they start to tighten more
no prodyucts make your own tightening spray from sea salt
3.5% of the water volume just sea salt and water nothing else
spray on rinse after 2 houreds
backcomb isnt the best method however its actualy better somewhat oose as it will dread faster and be way less damaged
how longs the undreaded parts if your hairs not long this its completely normal
u need 6 inches for natural dreading typicaly
u need 4-5 to backcomb
now if u start backcombing at 5 inches tyhe roots get loose up to 3 inches the tips get loose up to 3 inches thar means u may unravel com=pletely and if u do retain knots its just a lil in the center
then even if it unravels totaly it natura, lky dreds if it retains knots they will then slowly dread towards roots and tips however
1st 3 months u may see more looseninjg tghen tightening and then the r5oots reman loose for many months as they dread the 3 inches on each end will get closer to 1
the roots eventualy at 1/2 inch the tips may stay looser even a couple incghes but 1 is more typical
tyhe sea salt helps it knot
some tips
its not only what u w3ash with but how and how u dry that can matter washing the way you scrubbed straight hair may scrub it straight
to3wl drying can rub out knots
beads are a great way to encourage drading
affexcts my fdreads? not at all
affects my head? my brain boils
i have a spinal cord injury that semi high up so ppl with my level or higher typicaly do not sweat..at all even in a sweat lodge i wont sweat a drop so the heat can be dangerouse and i start to grey or blaqxck out after it gets a certain temp
in hot weather the dreads get tied up! the hotter it gets the higher they get stied or tucked in a tam
a wool tam seems like it would make u hotter but it dont its a lifesaver wooklkl insulates from the heat too but more importantly it gets the hair up off the neck so any lil breeze can help cool
i often and i mean often dump water over my head in the heat to cool down
at gatherings on the 4th we meditate in sillence sunrise till noon ..baking in the hot sun after the om i tend to gotta escape into the shade for a bit or have 4 or 5 sisters surround me and fan me with their skirts
tho im recent years i started bringing a thing called a misty mate which is like a portable air conditioner u fill it with water pump o=it up to get pressiur and it surrounds you in a coolo=ing mist reducing the temp u feel by 30 degrees about more if u add ice
i guess you wanted to know if the heat affectes the drading orocess more tho and no except for the fact that you may want em tied up alot too so that can slow it slkightly
btw
i go iut in t shirts all winrer usualy unless im out for hours dreads like mine make a great jacket u dont need much else
u need 2 more inches to get nsatural fdreads typicaly u can tnr the sides id tnr not backcomb
pr let it dread as it grows in
u never gotta lose drads to lice
wax yea ui understand
but u can kill lice in dreads and u can prevent them with teatree too
im sooooooooo glad that your dreading again i missed talking to ya
