Immediate assistance please!

you need wax b gone from www.dreadlockshampoo.com to get that evil wax out (its a scam and dread kliller) and it can take years to recover from the crochet mistake washing often to loosen them (don't use the Jamaican mango lime crap) and light conditioning with jojoba oil or similar will help speed the recovery

do not retwist at all it only causes balding

Dreadlocks not consistent, thin locs - Needs help!

Help! Save My Dreads

your only problem is you been going to a salon and getting them crocheted.. and to an extreme ammmount

crochet hooks (and salons) should never touch dreads!

now dreads should not all be the same size i had 1 that was 1 mm x 2 mm and that was 3 even tinies dreads ciombinerd (and was over 4 feet long when it disappeared) dreads should be a range of sizes

now with crochet you get many problems

1 thousands and thousands of broken hairs that's why they get extreme frizz during the recovery

2 stiffness and extreme tightness, this results in crocheted dreads often being 1/3 the thickness of healthy dreads

3 drastic delay in actual dreading, by forcing them to be supernaturally tight, they cant move and actually dread!  your replacing a natural process that happens through gentle movements (like a breeze blowing through your hair or water running through while washing or swimming) with the brutality of a jackhammer  tearing the hair to pieces and forcing it to be too tight to dread.. 1 use of crochet to start generalky takes 6 months of loosening before any dreading starts at all..then takes 3 years to lose the stiffness

4 they look very unnatural and manufactured

5 they will feel scratchy and itchy, all the broken hairs besides causing  extreme frizz causes them to feel rough to the touch, like steel wool

6 crocheting as often as you did can cause weakness eventually. the strength of a rope or dread depends on the length of the intact fibers/hairs this is why hemp ropes are thousands of times stronger then cotton. now a 1 inch thick dread should support the weight of 1000 pounds (full head of healthy dreads the weight of a 747 or 8 i think full grown elephants well over 60 tons) the same dread crocheted thousands of tiomes the hairs are now  1/4 to 1 inch in length  and the dread can be plucked right off or as 1 member found..diving into as pool the waters impact made 4 dreads float away. there was even 1 guy on facebook after years of crochet had to run each dread through a sewing machine to hold them together

so really the only thing to do is fire the loctician and let them recover from the abuse

i hope wax ort other products wernt used too

and i hope youir washing your hair more then once a month

Troubled dreads/scalp

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

mine take a real long time  most of the day toi get fully dry

that shampoo might be ok never tried it but the company lacks ethics (i believe they also push wax?) so for that reason don't recommend them

i didn't see a ful ingredients list though

how often are you washing?

Troubled dreads/scalp

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

actually the crochet  drasticly delays dreading that's why the roots are the way they are.. they are at the stage they should have been at around 4 months in

the loose hairs are extra with crocheted dreads cause they were all broken hairs that popped back out

thaty will get better in time... just will take a lot longer cause of the crochet

on to the dandruff

1st baking soda and acv is no longer recommended long term use severely weakens hair

you can try a few options

1 stop using hot water.. coolk to cold

2 dreadlockshampoo.com teatree rosemary or patchouli (depending if its dandruff or proriasis) these are the only things that work well for me

3 wash twice as often.. for me i get dandruffy around day 6  i accept it a day or 2 because mine are so long  its a pain to wash, but if i washed every 4 days..no more issues

4 heres a catch 22  jojoba oil or argon or anything like that applied to the scalp will stop all dry flaky skin, but will make the roots and loose hairs harder to dread a sea salt  soak or the liquid dread shampoo will make it dread much faster and tighter but  dries the hair and scalp out.. i generally use the bars till i get too much loose hairs then use the liquid just once and bamn i get a dozen new dreads just like that

Hey guys! Couple of questions on current and future maintenance

Dread Maintenance

1st off l;octicians are the worse mistake you can make! the crochet will extremely drastically delay dreading and will take years to recover from

2nd you should wash at a minimum of weekly

3rd 2 strand twisting them between washes only prevents them from dreading, the more they hang free and are able to freely move the faster they dread

if they are unraveling you have very extremely delayed the dreading process as they should be nearly mature by now

so wash more often stop the twisting, leave them to hang free ..only maintenance needed is separating so they don't join together (by pulling apart never twisting)
