also when wet or damp its more elastic but weaker too so it stretched then breaks so hurts less

and whats the alternative? yes you wil have a lot of short hairs at the roots but they will dread when longer

congrats on your recovery but the dreads are doing great you will have to separate often that 1 looks too thick

wearing them up or covered will only double the problem

your forcing them to matt together if left too long.. into a  bun shaped single dread

give them time to dread before you worry about styling them

separating while wets easiest beads help a whole lot!

and yes with fast dreading you have to separate much more often but  they will get past that stage faster and in a few months weekly will be plenty

lil tip the ones that are hard to separate, a lil olive oil on the connected hairs should make em come loose easy

but you cant worry about damaging the hair (in this case) i know i'm very against damaged dreads but the hairs that your separating are between dreads not in the dreads and the only way to separate them is to break those hairs free

its just like cutting them they will just be shorter at the scalp and form new dreads later on

while wet pull them away from eachother if some don't separate do as he said wiggle a finger under hose hairs and pull up from the scalp

technically you are breaking hairs when you separate..but between dreads not inside them

doing it wets easiest and most pain free

doing it often enough and you wont hardly notice anything being ripped cause you wont give it a chance to start to matt together

mine at 1/2 that thickness take a couple days to dry completely

remember yours are not yet tight when they are they dry a lot slower

they will get to about the sizes of the sections

look at my friend chevelle trant on here

hers when they started were tiny lil things  look how thick they are now

this is a very common mistake people assume the dreads will be the size threy make them so use way too much hair from big sections and end up with huge dreads

baba fats  um emily (theres a few Emily's) and umm matted something  or something matted .. all 3 though haven't been on much lately

they are the only 3 i can think of that have around dreads like yours

i started out with like 75 later i think i had close to 200

i let them congo at will (except those that are already 1 inch) and now have maybe 50-60

the few that are 6 combined into 1 that are an inch take very long to dry..and if i wash them too late in the day they risk getting funky

and those are just 1 inch.. i would at least recommend keeping the tips loose so they don't hold ikn water
