Roots?!

Dread Maintenance

do not force tighten them thats where most ppl who maintain go wrong the most often

they will be loose for many months but then tighten iup on thier own

1-3 inches is common till months 8-13ish then tightens to 1/2ionch and stays there

they absolitely need that movement room to dread right

the instagram persons clueless

Question - is this just loose hair or am I balding?

Help! Save My Dreads

it can mbe permenanttgyho it has to be rather extreme to become permenant but even if fixable it can take a long time if severe

dreadballing is probably failrly harmless but enturely pointless too

and yea i was kinda assuming it was from tying it back

Help! Save My Dreads

ok 1sr you should never ever ever use a crochet hook on dreads

2nd it could be from pulling them back tightly too much for too long

or could be balding but your dads dads balding gas nothing at all to do with your balding tendency..its your moms dad that you have to look at

the genetic causes of balding is passed down through your moms side if the family only

if you used a crochet hook to tighten the roots that can cause it too tho the pattern i see is either from pulling back or typical genetics influenced male pattern balding

suggestions:

1 stop crocheting

2 limmit how much you pull them back or stop completely for 6 months or so..if you must tue em back do it loosely and especialy release tension on the front ones

3take biotin

4 look into your moms side of the familues balding tendency

im not sure really idf this is something your causing or not so best to adjust what you do as if your sure your causing it

Really!? Hair growth

Introduce Yourself

well no technically it always grows at the same speed but it shrinks a ton in the 1st year then appears to grow twice as fast after because when u comb u damage the ends causing split ends wich most ppl trim every 2 months on average hair grows 1/2 inch a month the average trim is 1/2 an inch every 2 months so you lose 1/2 the growth to trimming off combing damage

since u dont trim dreads they seem to grow lots faster

beginning natural dreads sectioning questions

Dread Maintenance

most of those look about 3/4 a couple 1 inch

the thing tho is you want dreads to set you apart not like others ..if you let them dread naturally they will be all diferent sizes thick to thin and uniquelly yours

thats mine bout 6 years back

believe it or not the average size was thinner then a pencil with a few 1/2 inch and at that time only 1 or 3 that were 3/4 to 1 inch

the thinnest was 1 mm x 2 mm and that was 3 extremely thin ones congoed

youd be amazed ay how just having a couole thick ones mixed in with many thinner fives an overall impression of thicker dreads
