how' is everyones (Twist n Rip) coming along?!!!!

General Talk

Haha! yeah, got rid of crochet..It does look your dreads 'tidy' but eventually will kill them by damaging hair strands. Natural is waaaay better..

THanks! keep on smiling! :)

I screwed up, and I need advice.

Dread Maintenance

It maybe a residue or dandruff/dead skin that are stuck in between knots.

I think it was clear from Leah's initial post that she had some venting of frustration to do. She was open about that need. Unfortunately, it is common to come across folks who feel judged and oppressed by what they perceive as a rigid dogma regarding dread formation and maintanence on this forum. The line between acceptance of difference and faithfulness to one's own beliefs is a difficult one to walk.Personally, I don't feel great about the "get in line or go somewhere else" message that I am hearing. Meanwhile, I also understand the need to get information outto people about methods that have been harmful to some. I hope that there is some happy medium that this community can find, a balance of tolerance and integrity that can be stuck.Just wanting to voicethat wish into the universe.

This is about Bleaching your Dreads.

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

I dyed after few days of TnR in the beginning...Bleached them twice and dyed on my 2nd month..so that's 4x. They come loose afterwards but I don't mind. Just retwisted some of them. I'm on my 3rd month track..

Check my timeline thread..

crochet dreads painful picture warning

Dreading Methods

Yeah it looks like from here, the most popular method and I can attest it was indeed painful sleeping on them afterwards.

Once you crochet, you're going to crochet the rest of your entire dreading journey. @_@

This picture looks like it was done in the Philippines. Most dreadheads here have their locks done by crochet hook and/or wax. So far I haven't met another person here who has freeform dreads (aside from the other Filipinos on this forum).

I need opinions please.

Dreading Methods

Neglected after I started TnR. No crocheting at all. Retwisting detangled hair sometimes (I know it's not good but can't resist! :D).

Washing every 3 or 4 days or as needed.

I'm on my 3-month timeline TnR+neglect!

This is a different "when do I wash my hair" question.

Dread Maintenance

I think she's referring to where the pony sits on dreads when she put it on thus it makes 'spaces' on it..leave it alone...don't use too tight hair bands again.
