washing for the first time

Dread Maintenance

hey i just started my dread about 4 days ago and i am about to wash for the first time. i was wondering what will help my locks tighten more 1.) baking soda rinse or 2.) dreadheadhq shampoo.

also i was wondering since i went with the backcombed method this time around should i wear a stoking cap while i wash?

if recommended to go with baking soda what should my "recipe" be for new dreads?

Dread Maintenance

ok so ill be starting my new dreading in two weeks and want to know the best baking soda wash to use. should i use oils or just use baking soda and water and then rinse with vinegar? what does vinegar actually do? also will baking soda help dry my hair out prior to my dreading?

twist and rip dreadlock newbie questions

Dreading Methods

hey i am thinking of starting my journey at the end of the month. i want to do Twist and rip considering i have straight Caucasian hair. the only thing is my hair length ranges from 4.5- 5.5 inches and pushing 6 at some points. will twist and rip work or should i go with another method like backcombing?

some other questions i have are how long should i wait till i do the first was of my hair?

should i start to dry out my hair before dreading it?

what are some products i should buy to help the process go smoothly?

Dreading Methods

so last night i started on my journey via TnR and love them so far. i used elastics around the roots t help hold the dread since they are short. is it ok if i leave them in or should i switch to hemp string to tie off at the roots? what should i be using to help keep my dreads locking? i have read using just salt water helps is this true? if so should i go for a dip in the ocean since i live right down the street? or how long should i wait untill i go for a dip in the water?
