I want some tips about the neglect method
i personally think that neglecting is a good method because i love how my hair just changes everyday, and i would definitely recommend it to you! of course you have to be patient. i feel that there are phases with no progress at all and phases of very quick locking
pretty much the only thing that you have to worry about is what you wash your hair with, cause shampoos with residues will hinder the forming of dreads, like soaringeagle explained. on this page you can find thousands of tips for alternative shampoos, i'm sure you can find something that suits you.
i never tried crocheting, but i think that it sounds like lots of hard work, and i think that lots of the work will be made undone very quickly, as healthy hair usually doesn't like being forced into a certain shape. if you neglect, your hair will, (as you saw) form its own sections and then stick to them. and as far as i can see in the pictures, there are already sections forming!
good luck and enjoy your dreadlocks-journey
have a wonderful day!
