I want some tips about the neglect method

General Questions

i personally think that neglecting is a good method because i love how my hair just changes everyday, and i would definitely recommend it to you! of course you have to be patient. i feel that there are phases with no progress at all and phases of very quick locking :)

pretty much the only thing that you have to worry about is what you wash your hair with, cause shampoos with residues will hinder the forming of dreads, like soaringeagle explained. on this page you can find thousands of tips for alternative shampoos, i'm sure you can find something that suits you.

i never tried crocheting, but i think that it sounds like lots of hard work, and i think that lots of the work will be made undone very quickly, as healthy hair usually doesn't like being forced into a certain shape. if you neglect, your hair will, (as you saw) form its own sections and then stick to them. and as far as i can see in the pictures, there are already sections forming!

good luck and enjoy your dreadlocks-journey :)

have a wonderful day!

thanks all of you :)

by not much progress i just meant that in the last few months there hasn't been much change, i am in fact really happy with the overall messiness :D but well thank you for reassuring me.

Hello fellow humans :)

it's been nearly one year since i've stopped brushing my hair, so i thought a timeline with pictures might be a nice idea. the thing is, i didn't take photographs regularly, so there are some huge gaps in between sometimes.

but alright. here we go:

1st month, a mess, nowhere near dreads :P

6 months (sorry for the huge gap), lots of weird things happening, first dreads have formed :D

7 months, new haircolour, lots of progress :)

10 months, not much progress

nearly 1 year. still not much progress, but i do not intend to give up, looking forward to another year full of messy dreadiness :)

lots of love :D

not enough locks?

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

i also didn't have many when i did the twist and rip thing, just about 17. i did take some out and split them at the back but they opened anyways ;)

even now i think there's not going to be many, but you know what?

better have 20 healthy and nice dreads than 100 candles on your head :D

have a good day

loctician craving natural dreads

Dreading Methods

wow. i think it's really impressive that he does that. After all he probably makes more money from making and maintaining crocheted dreads :)
