Jobs and dreads.

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I agree, perfect response in my opinion :)

You have two options, in my opinion. The first is to abandon your dread journey for now in lieu of your more pressing need to earn money for your trip. Or, and I like this one better, you keep dreading, keep your hair as neat as is within reason, and really shine in customer service/politeness/initiative/going the extra mile, etc. You may be just a cart getter and bag boy, but you can be the best they've ever employed, and make em totally overlook your hair with stellar performance. Plus, doing your best even in menial jobs is a great exercise in building character. I hope both your job and your dreads work out well, good luck to you!!!

DreadHeadHQ's dreadbeads.

Dread Accessories

Hiya, fellow Aussie here. They have some stuff on eBay and you can buy wooden beads from bead shops and drill the holes to whatever dread size you have. You seem to have quite thin diameter like myself so you could probably use any charms that are made to fit a pandora bracelet, I got heaps of sterling silver charms cheaply from eBay - little elephants and hear no, speak no, see no evil monkeys etc. Good luck

Concerning the use of rubberbands.

Dread Maintenance

It's a shame you don't have a pic - I'd be interested to see your bleached dreads, there are plenty of horror stories that bleach makes your dreads rot, I'm not a fan of the use of chemicals aspect but I can't get past my love of the look of light coloured dreads

I'm probably going to get lynched for this but......all of my dreads have rubberbands at the roots and always have. My hair would be really straight and fine so doesn't dread very well when left to its own devices. As my boredom relief I go through the bands and take out the ones that lose their stretch regularly and as I get my dreads bleached they all get taken out and replaced every 2 months.

I think as long as you keep an eye on them it's fine.

How and Why? SHRINKING

General Talk

Woah that is some major shrinkage -do they feel nice and firm now though? Your hair colour is super gorgeous :)

Red-Dread said:

This is how much mine have shrunk in the past few months..... it's really annoying!!!! But, it will hopefully settle down soon!!!!

To be honest, since this photo... I've lost about another 2". Also, I have un-blunted my ends, which thankfully gave me the 2" back... nice and whispy!!

make em smell nice

Dread Maintenance

Shame you never got a response to this asI was wondering that myself. Oil floats on water so I would assume just oil but my baby dreads would likely slip out if I went slapping oils straight on them -scary :( j

Johnny Barnas said:

ill definatly try out some essential oils

got a local organic market with every oil imaginable

do i mix the oils with water in a spray bottle? or just put the oil straight on my dreads or what?

Girly opinions needed. :) Bangs/no bangs?

Dread Maintenance

Go with your gut, if instinctually you dont like the idea of a fringe/'bangs' (never understood why they are referred to as that - BANGS, funny to me, anyhow......) dont cut them in because 99% likelyhood you will regret it. Pull dreads into a neat bun and cover your roots/hairline in a black headband. Put on a little mineral make-up powder and manicure/paint your nails - temporary things that will make you look more polished and mainstream while you are 'on the clock' that you can wash off/remove when you get home and just be happy being you again.

Hope it all works out for you x

(Just realised this thread is 3 months old, oh well. What did you end up deciding then?)
