who is doing this for spirtual reasons? and what are they

History and Religious Significance

i am doing this cause i have wanted to for along time as well as being a rasta. i have seriously tried to be as natural as possibal over the last year or so since i discovered that all i stood for was rasta. since themn i went almost full vegan to the point of only eating cheese and rarely eggs but perferably vegan eggs as the only animal products i put in me. i dont even take asprin for headaches. i like the concept of dreads being your minds roots to the universe. i love earth based stuff and natural types of living. figured i would try to find like minded people.

Introduce Yourself

my hair was to my bum to before i started. and i know there will be some shrinkage. my only concern with the time and the process is that in the worst times it can get in the way alot and that makes me being a parent of a toddler a bit harder. she loves her daddys hair and want s to play in it.

well just be patient. You have a long road ahead of you there will be loops bumps and loose hair a plenty in the months to follow the real dreading probably won't start for a month or more. Just keep them clean and separated.I started with really long hair too, it was to my bum, now a year later my dreads are above my shoulders in some places, be ready for some serious shrinkage. Your backcombing may fall out into straight hair again, it may not, it all depends on your hair. Just hang in there and good luck!

any advice to keep them and to fix any loose spots or loops. so far some are looking real good and almost locked up but some are still kinda loose and soft feeling while the ones that are doing better are less soft and more tight feeling before dreading this i grew out my hair for 8 years so i would really like to keep these.

I have questions about dreadwax - yes, I'm really asking this here lol

Dread Products

i tried to dread about a year ago with the twist and i mean just twist and wax beez wax to be exact. i had a friend do it she is used to doing black people hair and apperently it works a bit for their hair but in limited amounts from what i hear. they wouldnt do well they stayed so waxy that i eventually after about a week or two washed and scrubbed it out and it took a month to get rid of all the wax. seriously screw wax. the only thing i did this time was back comb and thats cause i heard it works better for white people hair to start out and i didnt really get pain from it or did i really care to make them to perfect by over back combing i just did it enough to get some serious knotts started and it looked klumpy and seemed to start staying klumpy
