A Compliment !?

Life Issues Facing Dreads

My mother loathed the idea of me growing dreads originally, but after four, maybe five months, she's totally digging it. You just gotta lead them into it slowly. :D

dreadlockssite mega update comming soon-extended forums

General Talk

Just a note for when you aren't busy, but it might be good to clean up the thread list for religions. Wiccan and Norse Gods should be sub-forums of pagan, in my opinion, and Norse Gods would be better off being called Odinism/Asatru (cuz Norse Gods is pretty generalized).

Going Natural! I have some Q's though!

Dreading Methods

Welcome to the site first of all :D Now, to the questions. I'll answer as best as I can, since our hair is similar.

1. Dreads are basically circular mats, really. When the hair mats, it's on the way to becoming a dread.

2. Twice a week is good. Once a week is what I do, since I don't get oily at all. Make sure to use residue-free shampoo and don't condition.

3. For curlier hair, it seems around 8 months to 1 year and 2 months is usual. I'm about half-way to dreads (I think) at 5-6ish months.

so... TNR or natural

Dreading Methods

Maaaan, this all sounds like so much trouble for dreadlocks. If ya just stop touching it, it'll dread. Besides, a lot of people think dreads look better when the sections vary.

More questions about essential oils

Dread Products

The peppermint would be healthy for you (like SE said: drains the sinuses and such), but can irritate sensitive skin, like the scalp. A little bit wouldn't hurt, though.

dreads best for me

Dreading Methods

Yeah bud, just let 'em dread. I thought I wanted a particular look before I started dreading, but once my hair started to do its thing I've never been happier. My hair fits me so much better than it ever did and I couldn't be happier. :)
