General Talk

I've gotta say when I came to this site, I thought the design was really messy. This looks a lot nicer.

Hopefully, you can keep a neat design after you fix the bugs.

Looking for baby dread maintenance advice?

Dread Maintenance

I was thinking more along the lines of letting the first one start to lock up before starting the second. And my hair is extremely fine, and with twist and rip, the only way it would stay was by knotting into big loops and it was really uneven, and was hell to get out. It might work now if I tried since my hair is really dry from being backcombed, but I really like how the backcombing turned out instead.

Looking for baby dread maintenance advice?

Dread Maintenance

I'm new (: And I've decided to do one dread at a time, to not overwhelm myself, or my friends and family lol.

So I have one (my only) freshly backcombed dread which is kinda under my hair on the side of my head, and this is my 4th attempt.

This one is way nicer than the other times (2 of which were twist and rip). Twist and rip I think just doesn't work well with my hair type and condition.

Some info: I'm pretty much completely organic in regards to hygiene, other than the fact that I get my hair colored a few times a year. I use either Dr. Bronner's, baking soda, or just scrub my scalp with water for washing, depending on it's condition upon entering the shower. And I use sea salt water for styling. I'm going to look for aloe gel too.

Anyways, how can I keep this one going strong?

Innocent Dreadie Harassed By The Cops... Excuse my language, please...

Life Issues Facing Dreads

Yep, my friend last week who is white, but looks sort of "ghetto" or whatever got pulled over for no reason with 5 black people in the car, and the cop said he smelled weed, so they searched everyone down and the whole car, and found absolutely nothing. And STILL, they towed the car and searched in in the station, and now he has to pay $150 for the towing, and $35 everyday it's still in there. Well, the cop took 2 days off after that, so now he owes over $200 for absolutely nothing.

By the way, these are Southern York County cops, better known as petty BUMFUCK pigs. When you're in the middle of nowhere, cops get real petty, real quick because they have nothing important to do.

Baking soda wash?

Dread Maintenance

I use baking soda in my hair on a regular basis. I just dump it in a custard dish, put a little water in it and mix with my fingers, and then dab it at my roots where the grease is. If you use too much you'll dry out your hair majorly or leave white dots in your hair. My hair is dyed, and it doesn't fade it or anything.

I would put oils in your hair afterwards as a conditioner, but only natural oils, no regular products/fragrances as they could mold up your dreads! Or instead, you could put mix smelling-good natural oils with aloe, and try that after you get out of the shower.
