I also see alot of people with straight hair have twist and ripped at least a little. Do I need to do that? Will it speed things up any?

Reintroduction

Introduce Yourself

Hey guys. So Im not really new to this site. Ive posted a couple times back when I tried dreads in January. I had a set that I finger teased and t and r'ed a bit. But eventually I didnt like the way they looked and I combed them out. Now Ive let my hair grow out longer and started again last week. But this time Ive switched to all natural dreading, letting nature take its course. And it honestly feels really good. I have a feeling my hair will look better and im not worried about whether my dreads are all perfect or what not. I did have some questions. I wash my hair with BS and ACV every 2-3 days. In between those days I wash with a salt water solution. Is that okay to do in between? Or should I not wet my hair at all in between? I also wanted to know if pulling my hair back with a headband or bandanna is bad. Im afraid if i do that it will slow down the dreads. And my hair is pretty straight with a tiny wave in it. Does anyone have examples of what my hair might look like when its all done? Any ways im gonna try to take one of my facebook pictures and put it on here for a before picture.

Should I go natural?

Introduce Yourself

Ok. So I took the bands out. Most seemed to have attached themselves to my hair in some wierd way. So they broke as they were coming off because they wouldn't just slide off. And now im gonna do my normal wash with probably salt water and baking soda. Is there anything I can use to make my hair smell really good?

Should I go natural?

Introduce Yourself

Hey guys,

So I've had dreads for about 3 or 4 weeks now. Orignally I teased them with my hands. About the second week I backcombed them and put rubber bands in tips. But I really don't see these bands helping at all. It seems as though they are stopping the rest of the dread and helping come undone. I know that they are supposed to come undone a bit but the bands def aren't helping. I have a couple questions.

1. Would it be worth while to buy some shampoo? Or just get the Baking soda and apple vingar mix?

2. Should I just take all the rubber bands out and let it be? I'm actaully tired of messing with my hair and I feel this would be better but I need some ecouragement.

Dread Method

Introduce Yourself

Hey whats up brathers and sistas. I just started dreading about 10 days ago. My hair was an inch or so past my ears and now is just slightly shorter as i expected. But my question is what method did i use. I knew before i started I didn't want to use products. So i grabbed my hair and twisted it a little, and then i rubbed it until it felt like a dread. Basically backcombed with my fingers. Then I rubbed the tips in my palm to help keep them together. What method is that? Also Im having trouble with the back, it falls apart while I sleep, and the three times i've washed my hair the back came out. I wear a nylon cap to wash my hair with some natural shampoo i bought.
