essential oils for dreads and scalp health

Dread Products

i have to tie my hair back for work and have found that its tugging at few dreads, it doesnt seem to matter how loose i tie them. But, letting them loose isnt much of an option, they are still young and a bit wild!

What is the best oil to use for the wee scabby bits...not big scabs i can just feel two of them that are itchy and a bit sore but you cant see them and the hair doesnt seem to be effected.

i use 1/2 a cup bs

20 drops lavander

20 drops Rosemary

5 drops tea tree

6 drops Peppermint

4drops lemon

4 drops thyme

all in a big jug of water and leave it for 15 mins

Then i do a ACV rinse i add a glug of acv 20 drops lavander, 20 rosemary, a dribble of jojoba oil, and 4 drops thyme and 4 drops of lemon and rinse

and if its feeling a bit dry i rub in jojoba oil and leave it in.

am i using too much of something or is there and oil that is really good for skin i can leave on at the end??

all info appreciated thanks!

Loctician dreads vs natural dreads: my journey and my (strong) opinions

Dreading Methods

ok got very bored of reading peoples negitivity!

I totally understand what you say i started out with shite dreads the first time i got them...in a salon and with wax and with no info or guidence what so ever, so to find this site isa god send now i have started my own dreads that i happily done myself with the twist n rip method ..ALL NATURAL and i am happy to say that! no not neglect i used a helping method!

From what i read you are not trying to speak for everyone just trying to pass on good vibes and good info this is the one site where i dont feel i have to be special or totally live by the Dreadlock way and all that shite...you can have them for fashion you can have them just cos you fliping feel like it who gives! each to their own i say so i am sorry i have stolen your rant to have a rant of my own!! Keep this post its help ful i dont know why people feel the real need to grumble and state the obvious and just be argumental!

Ha ha keep smiling and you know from reading this site deciding to do my own dreads i think i am way way happier with the outcome because they are random and they are something i worked hard doing and each dread is different. I have them to make me feel special and unique and happy! i never understood quite how dreads give you proper good vibes i mean in a just 'chill out' kinda way! i jut hope that vibe can pass through the people i know friend and family...

Best dreading method to keep them together.

Dreading Methods

i am using twist and rip and they are only 4 ish days old and mine have loosened but after reading this website and taking dreads in a new light instead of wanting them to be perfect and straight i am learning to let them do their own thing! its fab no worries just chill and i am trusting that they will dread up themselves...if you are worried hats are amazing and help keep them less like a wonky hedgehog! ha ha have fun and reeelax!

using bands??

Dread Maintenance

thankyou!! i did think that and i am currently just doing a little more work on the looser ones and it seems to be working for now! i never understood what you meant about having soft cuddley dreads since i never experianced it with my last set of waxy ones. Well i have done the baking soda rinse and wow i totally see what you mean, soft soft soft and ohhh so cuddly i so love my baby dreads! well only dreaded from nape of neck to top of my ears so i have a lot of work to do and plenty of time to get them looking good for the top of my head!

cant wait to add beads and wear scarves and wraps!! good start to the year, thanks so much for this amazing website! its so reassuring to find help and also know that how i am doing it is fine and not to worry and not to care what others may think as long as me myself is happy with my dreads.

using bands??

Dread Maintenance

Hi!

This is my first discussionso bear with me :) i am just wondering... i have just put my first few dreads in and i am still getting to grips with the twist and rip method some working really well others not so much.

I am just wondering if using a couple of bands to hold them together a bit is a good idea or will i regret it after??!! i know everyones journy is different i just wondered if its a really bad plan or will it help for the first week or so?

I love the loose ends because they make them look dead girly but i just wondered ifbands will help them stay together a little better!!

ok well here goes...posted!

Thanks for any help in advance!!

Alex

Q About Dr. B's Soap and Hair Dye

Dread Products

my hair dye is being stripped really quickly too! i use the bicarbonate soda rinse with lavender, teatree and rosemary.

i have very dark hair but bleached it ages ago, then dyed it red after a while and then a darker purple but every time it gets stripped back to a dirty colour i dont think the blonde is letting anything stick but i also dont think my hair has ever been so clean sinse i had dreads...kinda stuck!!!!

Are there any colours that any one knows of actually being resiliant to the soda rinse??

Red, dark brown ??

i wanna feel unique and i am used to pink hair but i feel with dreads i can be unique with a more 'normal' colour but i just wish it would stick around long enough for me to get used to it!! ha

Cheers!
