Whats the longest you're gone without washing you hair?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Thats it.

There all kinds of reasons people don't wash their hair. How did it effect your hair and scalp. Would you ever again go for any extended period of time without washing your hair?

When i was 17, i had an afro. I though i could make it nice, shiny an full, by allowing the natural oils to moisten my head. Every night for a month i would rub in some jojoba oil, and wear a shower cap to sleep. Id wake up and my head would be all oily and wet. It felt nice, and i thought i was doing a good thing, since i was led to beleive that this was a good idea.

It didnt kill me.....

So everyone knows that the government lies.....

yeah, thats what i thought too. But Nuclear power is a really great investment IF it was being done right! Look up "LTFR" Liquid Thoruim Fluoride Reactors, are SAFE nuclear reactors. If they get shutdown unexpectedly, the thoruium COOLS itself. so you dont have to worry about meltdowns. AND the fuel for the reactors is naturally occurring and nearly as common as lead.

but anyway =P Im having a hard time washing my hair without thinking im getting radiation in my lungs. bathing my body is no issue, as this radiation cant penetrate skin.

And its clear that there is something goin' on, but we're not being told exactly the truth.

All that radiation in the air, and its still safe to drink the water? nope.

Once you breathe particle radiation it stays in your lungs.. now if i were to get that radiation in my hair, from the water, it would stay in my locks. And when my hair dries the radioactive particles still remain, and fill the air around my head with residual radiation.

Oh and its nothing like getting an X-ray, like they try to convince you of.

General talk; Radiation, in the water.... is it bout time to cut the dreads?

Going out in the woods....

...But, ZOMG TICKS!!!!

So im deathly afraid of deer ticks... How can i keep those tiny little things out of my scalp and away from my body Naturally? If i were to get a tick or two in my hair i dont know what id do. Id do my best to not cut my dreads, but i really wouldnt like getting Lyme disease. Has anyone survived a tick attack and lived to tell about it?

I know the easy answer is "Bug spray", but when that is not enough what should be done to deter ticks and prevent them from digging into your scalp?

Discuss.

Homemade Shampoo Recipes

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Im about ready to make a shampoo and conditioner, and i figured im not the only person who does. Im going to try something new and i thought id share it.

Do you have a recipe you use for your hair and scalp?

Heres a list of ingredients that im using;

Rosemary

Thyme

Jojoba oil

Tea tree oil

Aloe vera gel

Apple cider vinegar

Dr.Bronners soap

I might use Green tea and lemon juice, but im afraid that the lemon juice will turn my hair blondish. The green tea might be a little too much also.

The purpose of this shampoo is supposed to be Sebum Annihilation and prevention, as well as improving hair growth.Thinking about the best way to go about this, i dont know which ingredients i should use for the shampoo, and which ones for the conditioner. I dont just want to mix it all together and pour it on my head. lol even thought that is basically what happens when you wash your hair.

What would you do with these items?

Neglect hygiene

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

But doesnt that mean that there is still oil in my pores? I dont want my pores to be clogged anymore. What do i do about that? Is it possible to reverse thinning hair, by the way? I feel like i have a bald spot, but it might just be my hair parted to form my locks. Its sorta hard to tell. The question is; "is my hair actually disappearing, or is it all there, forming what are my dreadlocks?" I mean, no matter what, i still need to take better care of my scalp, regardless of if im going bald.

So how do i use the Thyme? DO i steep the leaves like tea? or do i need thyme oil? When i use my rosemary, i just put the twigs in steaming hot water and let it sit for an hour or so.

thyme can help slow oil production slowly add it to the wash or as a tea spray on between washes and leave on

and a hot wash will remove more oils but then u gotta follow with a cold rinse or the pores will be wide open pumping oit oil u gotta freeze em closes

I am fairly dark, and my hair is Black black. What do you mean by "combo" hair? Black people do create more oil's than white people naturally, and that is fine, but i just want to Remove, and Prevent the build up of the Sebum. Normally i wash with a variety of generic "organic" shampoo, then ill use apples cider vinegar. Once in awhile i make my own shampoo; Stuff like rosemary, tea tree oil, Dr,Bronners soap stuff. No matter what i do (or dont do) the build up seems to be unstoppable.

I hate to admit it, but this past month i have been in a severe depression, and have neglected to bathe. Im not normally a depressed kind of person, but Thats that. Normally i wash my hair 2-3 times a week. Sometimes more, Sometimes less. Ive got really sensitive skin, so i just tend to do what is good for my body at the time.

well

combo hair can be tricky if your hairs more black the aloes a great thing cause youir not gonna be producing alotta oils and u will be really dry (so u want just aloe with no other ingredients at all) however this sounds like the combined nayure of your hair is making u produce alot of oils and its building up so adding aloe isnt really going to be helping what you want is to be washing that away (not stripping it all jusft ther excess)

what are u washing with now and how often

Neglect hygiene

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Hi, i just found this community while looking around for a way to FIX my hair and scalp problems. And so far it seems like a pretty darn cool place. So, ive been dreading for about 2 years now, and ive encountered some issues along the way, most of them resolving themselves. For the past 3 weeks ive noticed a lot of SEBUM building up on my scalp. Its really annoying since it doesnt seem to go away, no matter how much i scratch and pick at it. Generally, i have very healthy hair, but my scalp is often lacking, to the point of forming a bald spot on the top of my head. This sebum is killing my head, and i type this now with aloe gel in my hair and a towel on my head, hoping to do something... lol I am mulatto, by the way, so i think that Does make a slight difference in how i would go about doing things, but i really dont know alot of black people around me that have dreads. a shame really. anyway, i really dont want to go bald because of negligence... got any advice for me?
