Dread locks in different languages.

General Talk

in france braids and dreads are 'les nattes', a more contemporary alternative to cadenettes, but you can kinda tell one evolved from the other. so if you wanted to say i have dreadlocks, you'd say j'ai les cheveaux des nattes, that's where we get the word 'natty' from = natty dreads :)

Dye my Dreads Green?

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

Recently i've been thinking about dying my dreads green. what do you think? obviously i'd use natural dyes instead of harmful chemical ones, but is even greater non-conformity worth less natural dreads? i'm not posting this because i want you to influence what i do direrctly, or to be one of the crowd, as hypocritical as it seems, i'd just find other peoples' points of views enlightening as they might free me from the cloud of perpetual ignorance that stalks us all.

single minded people not understanding my dreads :/

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I just have to say massive thanks to you all ! I'm really glad you understand because before I felt kinda isolated whereas now I feel absolutely brilliant about the magical journey I've chosen to embark upon. I'm really grateful that you all said what you have done and that I'm not alone. I smiled when I read each and every one of your posts and they reassured me to the fullest extent :) Cheers again, Iggy :)

And btw, yeah I am in high school =)

single minded people not understanding my dreads :/

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I'm getting a lot of shit at school and stuff because people say my dreads don't look like dreads, and that they just look ridiculous; to be honest, I really don't care what they think, and I certainly won't take it to heart, but I still find it hurtful that people can be so ignorant. my dreads are only babies, just 2 and a half months old (I twist and ripped). I just wish people would understand dreads are more than a hairstyle, but a spiritual quest that I have began to express my individuality and spirituality, and to emphasize my identity. I try to explain that dreads are a magical journey that take a lot of time and patience, but nobody listens and everyone seems to have lost faith except me. So i suppose all i want is a morale boost. I'll never get rid of my dreads because of what someone says, in fact it probably makes me want them more to know that some people don't like them, but i hate the ignorance of single minded people. Does anybody agree with me, or have experienced anything similar?

Thanks for reading =)

Peace and love, Ig

Vegetarian, to be or not to be?

Dreads and Diets

Yes, but inuits don't exploit their animals in a torturous and barbaric manner.

Vegetarian, to be or not to be?

Dreads and Diets

I'm 15 and I've been a vegan since I was 13 and vegetarian since I was 8. I turned vegetarian when I ate a bacon sandwich and felt really guilty about the pig that I had eaten. When I was 13 I realized that torturing animals is just as bad as, if not worse than, killing the animal. I don't find it hard and never have done because I think of the poor animals whenever I see meat. Watch this video on youtube, Meet Your Meat , it shows what most slaughterhouses are really like. And it goes for most dairy farms too. If you can't watch it then you shouldn't be eating meat. I would really suggest becoming vegan though; animals are still cruelly kept and harmed for other products too.

Hope this helps you to make the right choice :) Peace and love, Iggy
