you sectioned your hair and did t and r right? ok so right now you kinda have an outline for dreads. They are not dreads yet. There are no real knots yet. For the next year....your hair is gonna form knots. Those knots turn into dreads. They are gonna go thru a process of loosening up so they can knot up ..then loosen then knot. They are gonna form loops and weird bumps. Each dread is unique..no 2 are exactly alike. Noone has really covered week one cause nothing really happens yet. Loosening is normal, expected and wanted. :) Wash your hair...but wash gently. Concentrate on washing your scalp not your hair. Otherwise, Don't touch your hair. Don't play with it. It can undo the knots that are trying to form. Sleeping on wool or wearing wool tams a few hours a day can encourage knots. Spraying your hair with a mixture of sea salt and water an hour or so before you wash it can also encourage knots. You don't need to worry about anything the first week. Sit back and enjoy this new journey!

First week?

General Questions

I've just had tnr done and I was very pleased as I knew they were nice n tight. But day two they all loosened up a little. I'm sure that's normal. But I realised no-one has really covered that first week. What should I be doing to my 45 locs? Should I be rolling them or anything? Or do I just wait

kinked dreads at the roots...

Dread Maintenance

You could use the old crochet hook but wait till the dreads settle down first. Plus you might learn to like a little kink or two. Add a little character.

I wanted my dreads straight and boring.

My dreads were backcombed and i havent done any maintainance at the roots since ive had them. The only work ive done on my hair is just to keep the tips blunt and thats all.

So theres no way to making them continue to grow straight? kink free?

Scalp?

Dread Maintenance

Seeing as in two days I'll actually have my dreads started I thought I'd better ask lol!I'm a really green conscious person and so I'm going to wash my dreads with the bs acv solutions kindly described to me... Well actually did it today and even my undreaded hair rocks. Wish I'd know that before I can tell ya.My problem is that I often suffer from an itchy scalp between washes. Can I use same stuff to wash scalp or is there a alternative I should know about.

what kris means is seperate randomly when u do the rips so theres different hairs and ammounts of hairs in each hand every time and only retwist 1 outta every 5-10 pulls

thats about it ppl ive given a 2 minute explanatiin and they made beautiful dreads quickly its so easy and way faster then backcomb

dont try to get it too super tight either tight enough to stay but nit so tight they cant move and loosen and rearange
