Hi There!

Introduce Yourself

Way to be yourself! Your dreads are looking nice!

I myself go to a conservative church where many can be quick to judge on appearance. Each time I come back from school for break, I have a new tattoo or piercing. This time I came back with one of each, plus dreads. It's a great way to open those people up to different, out-of-the-box concepts. Now that they see that I'm the same person that I was beforethey're starting to be more accepting of others. While many of the older members don't understand, many are intrigued and fascinated by them. I've been able to clear up some misconceptions about dreads. I've had several people say that they were surprised by how neat they looked and clean. Keep your chin up and rock those sweet dreads of yours! :p

I think it's great that you're sharing your story! You might end up helping someone else who has the same disorder. Your dreads look amazing, and I'm glad that you feel like yourself again. One of the best things about dreads is how they can aid in finding your true self.

Dread Maintenance

Haha! This totally happened to me the other day except my dread got caught on my dog's collar while we were wrestling on the floor. Talk about painful! lol

Hey yall!

Introduce Yourself

I've been checking out some of yall's dread stories and am encouraged to keep my dreads. I've only had mine for about 3 months. I used the backcombing method with the help of my friend while out at school in Wyoming. I was alittle nervous about them at first due to the fact that it'snot your everyday hairstyle, but I'd become confident after a couple of days. College students are pretty accepting. I came home for winter break to Virginia where many are conservative and don't understand those who go out of the ordinary box. My dad is not the biggest fan of my hair and actually asked "will you bring your real hair back for me for Christmas?" He's used to me being somewhat different and still accepts me. :] Along with becoming a little impatient, I'd been contemplating over whether I should lose the dreads. Due to the fact that I love my dreads and after checking everyone elses dreads out, I've decided to keep them!

Does anyone have any tips on how to make them dread up quicker or is patience the only answer? Mine are starting to dread upa bit more in the back, but not on top.
