As an Art student I hope to never have any problems with peoples reactions however my boyfriend has been a bank official and never had any problems there. I have worked in ice cream places etc where as long as your hair is tied up there is no reason to be alarmed, and my hair is much less likely to fall down! I know people in teaching who are definately discouraged to even dying their hair in order to maintain the "reputable image" as well as doctors who are afraid their patients will refuse to be treated by them. The only discrimination I find is getting pulled over all the time, random breath testing, street searches and the refusal of the police to belive that you actually own the car you are in!
