A little upset

Help! Save My Dreads

Also, try a looser fitting hat like a tam, it would be a shame to lose them all because of one spot that will grow back in time. They will all dread up before you know it! Know it's not what you want to hear but I hope it helps. :)

yes i checked the f.a.q.'s lol

Introduce Yourself

you leave it on the hair fora short time, a couple hours or so because if you leave it on too long it can dry the hair too much leaving it weak or even brittle. So a little while before showering is good so you can wash it out.

Do you consider yourself a hippie?

General Talk

I think that most of the people I interract with consider me a hippie, I think I am me, a girl with lots of thoughts that just don't ever stop coming to me. I respect the universe and am grateful for what we are blessed with. I try to enjoy all that I can, do not set standards and just live. I wear what I like, what is comfortable and attracts me, I think everyone should feel free to do the same.

Misguided racism (well isn't it always?) towards caucasian dreadies...

General Talk

I had to stop reading, it is opinion after opinion, strongly written, push and push back. Everyone agrees with their own opinion. You know the truth about yourself so don't let them bother you! :)

UGH !!!! DANDRUFF HELP !!!

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

you know I almost forgot, I was using DHHQ shampoo for a while and did get a bit of dandruff, then I bought the rosemary suggested by SE and I haven't had a problem since, I also use the b/s wash with a little tea tree oil and some lavendar and as long as I don't use too much b/s I'm good. :)I try to use the cooler setting on my blow dryer too when I have to use it to dry my hair quickly.

pressing dread issue,... i dont know what to do

Life Issues Facing Dreads

Well it sounds like you already turned around on the issue, but I was gona say how do you know having dreads will decrease your chances until you at least try...? I work in an office where they want us all to dress and be very professional and I was a little worried about my decision to dread, but the worries weren't necessary as I haven't had a problem yet... and I'm still in the messy baby/teen stage. Best of luck to you finding a job! :)

What can a freshman say?

Introduce Yourself

You could give them the facts. Why did you decide to dread? If you feel like sharing with them, share and let them know the truth about dreadlocks. Most of the negative comments to me come from people who just don't know that you still wash and care about your hair and stereotypes that have stuck. You will learn patience, acceptance and strength from your dread journey and that alone will give you more confidence, at least that has been my experience thus far.Best wishesto you, keep being yourself. =)
