do tnr locs always shrink?

General Questions

thanks for the feedback, i guess i havent really actually measured my hair on a daily basis, it just seems like my hair is getting sooo long sooo fast. it's not even like the new growth is having issues locking, i guess it's just been a while since i've had longer hair haha. i dont know if there's any factual basis in this, but maybe using natural soap has all-over hair health benefits = it grows longer faster and dreadier? ha.

how long have you all had your tnrs?

do tnr locs always shrink?

General Questions

just curious. my hair is growing f a s t. my hair is locking fine, some are getting pretty fat, which makes me happy, I just would like to know if the whole shrinkage thing is an absolute- or a sometimes- sort of deal. I'd like them to shrink, in hopes that some of the skinnies would get a little thicker/so that i dont have to end up cutting off my nice curly ends in 5 years vs 10.

dyeing baby dreads?

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

My hair is pretty dark, not jet-black, but dark enough for my dreads to look almost like regular hair when it's tied back. I want to lighten my hair a shade or 3. My tnr dreads are fairly new, 3 and a half months old. They hold together fine when I wash them, but I do notice they get signifigantly softer afterwards, which is scary but I guess a part of life when you have smooth straight asian hair. I have a bleached section in my head from before i started dreading.

Has anyone had any experience dyeing dreads at this stage? ALSO I live in the fog, and there's rarely sun. When there is sun, I rarely can go play in it because that's my life. So I don't foresee using lemon juice or anything like that working fantastically well for my lifestyle. So, does anyone have a suggestion for lightening it (if it's safe to do so now without destroying any progresson the contrary, i've also had someone tell me that after they bleached & died their dreads, they locked up faster, but they had aftrican american hair, so i dont know if that would work the same on my straight smooth hair.)? MY plan would basically be to bleach and then dye. I guess.

.....feedback please! and photos/links thereof, if at all possible.

About to throw in the towel :(

Help! Save My Dreads

try determining a part & work from the roots down. it hurts, but mine started sucking in hairs from like 2 dreads over, so it needed to be done.

how to make & use a seasalt spray for dread babies?

Dread Maintenance

I made a mixture of seasalt, lemon juice, and water with a couple drops of tea tree oil, sprayed it lightly on my dreads [avoiding my roots & scalp] and took a blow dryer to it. my hair is generally babyfine, so this roughened it up quite nice. it's been a couple days since i've applied it & nothing bad is seeming to happen, + it seems like its helping my ends lock up better. i guess we'll see what happens!
