Ceramic Beads, good or bad

Dread Accessories

I had a few of these in my dreads for a while. They were nice to look at but I found they would get stuck on a hair elastic if I was wearing a ponytail and then went to slide the hair elastic out.

Help

Help! Save My Dreads

Your scalp may not be infected, it may be just that your skin is getting used to your hair being pulled that way. My scalp itched heaps too but it settled down after a few days.

How I (easily) got rid of dread wax.

Saved Dreads Success Stories

Actually, now you've got me thinking. There's a wax product I use made by the company "Waxeeze" that claims to remove the sticky residue left behind from waxing legs and such. It's a type of oil. I'm not sure what oil it is but it really works and you only need a little bit. I wonder if it would work for hair wax too?

Self blunting locs

Dread Maintenance

Mine are blunting up on the tips by themselves too. I have been picking them free again on a regular basis but feel I am loosing my battle.

Long term Vs. Short term

Dreading Methods

Why wouldn't I get any new split ends? I'm only going to take of say 1/4 inch of hair off the end of each dread. They'll still be wispy on the ends because I don't want them blunt. Wouldn't the remaining free hair just split like my regular hair used to on the ends? Or does the dread process stop the splitting. I hope it does :-)

Split ends bug me :-)

Long term Vs. Short term

Dreading Methods

I wondered about this too but in relation to the wispy ends of my dreads. They are all split now and I wonder whether I should lightly trim those split ends off.

Preventing blunt ends

Dread Maintenance

Thanks for starting this thread. Mine are doing that too and I've been picking them loose again. I have to keep up on it though because they start blunting again straight away. I prefer the wispy look and like the way after I wet them that they drip dry quite quickly.

why are my dreads sticking out?

Dread Maintenance

Mine did that too. It just takes time for them to sit down. I think it took about a month, but really, if you just ignore them, one day you'll look at them and they'll be sitting down and you won't quite know when that happened.

Best compliment you've received on your dreads?

General Talk

What a great thread.I have two.1. I was at work one day and a colleague brought her daughter in late in the day. The daughter said to her mum regarding me, "who's that lady, look at her hair, she's beautiful".2. I went to the hairdresser to ask about having my hair dyed (because I find it difficult to do myself) and several of the hairdressers came over for a look and all said how great my hair looked and that they loved it and it suited me. That was really unexpected as I thought hairdressers wouldn't be keen on my dreads.
