dreads from braiding

Dreading Methods

you can start your dreads via braids, but it may take a bit of time; i know a girl who started hers that way and said she rubbed the outside of them to cause the loose hairs to knot, i'm not really sure of the specifics but they look decent, although thin, and they may always look like braids.all the other shit is just though man, you don't want glue in your hair that's just silly, and interlocking/root flipping is just terrible, and if you don't believe anyone here, you can read any number of dready sites and they will tell you the same i'm sure, get up dread up on live journal and dreadlocktruth both have additional info and every site i have ever looked at says do not root flip/interlock, and products are bad, be it wax, lock peppa, honey or super glue, if it's sticky, you don't want it in your hairalso, me and my friends have used glue and shit in out hair back in the day and it's nightmare man, a friend of mine used wood glue and he couldn't get it out so he had to sleep on the side on the side of his head because he was afraid it would make his hawk break.

loctician dread disaster (yet again)

Dreading Methods

i've never heard of tying them back to keep the roots tight, and i would think it'd be opposite, tying them back would put strain on the roots, and would cause them to grow out into straight hair instead of dreading as it grows out

this is what its like out of the ponytail, so whats the advice?

also, you dont think tieing them up for a little to strengthen the roots is a good idea? your the master so i wont dispute, ive just had a few of my jamaican friends insisting

loctician dread disaster (yet again)

Dreading Methods

that's, just weird. all these loctitions seem silly, and they usually don't do anything but steal your money and keep you coming back to make deposits.they look thin, but pulled back it's hard to tell, and wearing your hair pulled back all the time can create weak spots in the dreads that can cause them to break so it's odd they would tell you that, that on top how thin they made them, sounds like they want you to be worried so you keep coming back and giving them your money. and if they are braided together then tied up and rubberbanded, the hair can't move and the movement is what creates knots, also, the rubberbands will cause hairs to break so you may want to get those out sooner than later.if your hair was backcombed you should be fine if you take them out of the pony tail, unbraid them and remove the rubber bands; the ends may unravel some but let them do their thing and they'll knot up. with it being 5 days in it wouldn't be to much to comb out and redo them but if you would rather not there are ways to combine them as well, or you can just not separate them and let them congo over time.

bicarbonate soda is bicarbonate soda there is absolutely no difference between arm and hammer and organic brands costing twice as much all bicarbinate soda is orgasnic meaning it comes from organic sourses there is nothing else added ever

you are paying twice as much for the exact same thing

lemon juice does lighten hair in sun and heat..very gradualy but it also conditions slightly too so does the oposite of the sea salt making the spray more useless

i always hear the book is better than the movie too:parm and hammer works fine for me personally, never itchy, no build up and no dandruff after 6 weeks and no acv.and to op topic, there are plenty of mixes for a good solution, i can't remember how much salt i used but i did add lemon juice to my spray because it lightens hair in the sun, or with heat too maybe but i'm not positive

I heard that ARM & HAMMER baking soda isn't that good for your hair, as organic Baking soda is.

Baking Soda, alias sodium bicarbonate, is a naturally occurring substance that is found in all living things, where it helps regulate their pH balance. ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda is made from soda ash, also known as sodium carbonate. To make ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda, the soda ash is mined in the form of an ore called trona. The soda ash is then dissolved into a solution through which carbon dioxide is bubbled and sodium bicarbonate precipitates out, forming "Pure, Safe and Natural"
ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda. You remember that from chemistry class, don't you?

wrapping dreads while sleeping

Dread Maintenance

after you backcomb and your dreads are sticking out tams are great to get them to lay down some, and yeah, if you use wax it'll help keep it off everything else.

otherwise, sometimes i just like to sleep with a hat on because it's soft and i like it lol; sometimes it seems like they're less fuzzy though, but that could just be aplacebo effect. also nice if you have one sticking out and you'd like to try and calm it down some, i usually don't tuck mine in, just pull it over so it lays'em down some

dish soap on dreads?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

the basic bs wash is 1/2 to 3/4 cup of baking soda to 1 gallon of warm water, make sure all the clumps are broken up and the bs is fully dissolved then pour over your head, let it soak for a minute or 10 and rinse well.i don't do all the oils and and have not felt the need for acv as my hair is normally pretty oily but i do add 3 tbsp of sea salt to the bs, nothing extra to do, just make sure it dissolves
