General Questions
uh just use random chunks of hair that feel like they belong together. i wouldnt say my sectioning was the best.. but i have some pictures on my profile of the top of my head and my part and stuff to give ya an idea. just remember that they will thicken up to be almost the same as your section at the roots. i also think its best to vary your sizes

dont wear a doo rag. those are supposed to help prevert nappyness (not sure if thats a word) but nappy is kind of what you want with dreads.
anyways my friend has beautiful dreads and he said he just uses "shampoo for black people" and washes his hair once a week. besides that he doesnt do anything. hes been growing them since they were about an inch long i believe they were twisted
mine are about a month old and i use baking soda to wash and apple cider vinegar to condition. besides that i just make sure they stay separated and that its for any maintenance.
i dunno its a trail and error thing. but do whats best for you! look around this site theres a lot to be learned. soaring eagle is great at answering most questions.

Dread Maintenance
i wear boy hats :D and im pretty sure i look ok in them
i just picked the hat i liked best, didnt matter if it was guys or girls.
i guess in our society its more approppriate for girls to wear boys hate than for boys to wear girl hats. depends on your location too lol

Dreading Methods
mine took more than ten hours...
but mine are really tight cuz i thought they needed to be. i dont think u need to do them too tight.
depends on how much hair ya gat, ur probably ganna have to dedicate a a few hours to it.
but i did mine mostly while hanging out with my friends. i think i actually drank and smoked while dreading 
probably why some of my sectioning is messed up.
