does anyone get snaged on tree limbs as much as i do?

General Questions

I hate it when that happens. My biggest problem is that I either get caught in my daughter's earrings when I hug her, or I get caught on the hook just under the car door. Man that sucks, especially if I'm in a hurry and I try to jump in the car real fast.

Play any instruments?

General Talk

bass guitar, drums, piano, and synth (beat boxes and mixes and that sort of thing). I've played in a couple of bands, had a couple cover shows at some venues back home, but nothing real serious.I'm the same way in that I don't know the first thing about reading music or even tabs. I know the chords and can read chord sheets, but I mostly just play by ear.

if you look into theology and mythology in a historical sense, medusa was actually originally a warrior goddess full of beauty and eroticism from the north african and lybian amazonian tribes, so it would make sense that she would be depicted with dreadlocks as the priestesses of the tribes would have dreadlocks to show others that they were indeed a priestess (since it wasn't something back then that you could "create" overnight). she was transplanted into greek theology much like they did when conquering other areas with differing beliefs to help them ease the transition. the difference with this one though is that a lot of the way she was portrayed as well as what she stood for was very taboo in greek culture. she was also too similar of a goddess to athena (especially considering that one of the variations of medusa's name was extremely similar to the name athena), and many felt that they were competing goddesses in that sense. that's why the myths were eventually changed as well as her image, to appease the religious majority. she was also sometimes depicted originally as a mermaid type figure with wings or fins, and with fish scales, which helps explain why she eventually became covered in snakes and was cursed with a snake-like body.it's very similar to what's happened to the image of hekate from the greek and roman days to modern days. hekate was originally a triple aspect goddess, going from being young and beautiful and virgined, to a fertile mother, to a wise sage. nowadays she is simple seen as the "crone", an image very similar to what we know now today as the cartoon depicted witch. though, i won't go into hekate much more than that cuz some people still get kinda touchy about that subject.i love theology, did i mention that by the way? :)

dreaducation, comprehensive guide to all things dready

Dreading Methods

If you go to a nursery or plant store, or even a home depot/lowes/walmart if there are none in your area, or even a lot of grocery stores. Aloe plants are really easy to find, a lot easier than finding pure aloe gel, a lot cheaper, safer, and if you take care of it the plant (pretty low maintenance for a plant) will just keep pumping out the aloe. Hooray for regeneration!Just pull one of the new buds off the bottom edge of the plant, straight out of the soil. Don't break it. Should pull out rather easily, actually. Then split it down straight down the middle with a knife and scrape the gel out. You can also just break it in the middle and squeeze the gel out but you always leave some behind if you do it like that. Aloe plants are so versatile. Good for burns, wounds, muscle aches, makes a good hair gel or dread conditioner, also makes a refreshing drink if the gel is prepared properly.Just make sure you actually have an aloe plant. There are a lot of cacti out there that look very similar to aloe. Most are bad for you and some are even poisonous. If you are unsure just ask someone at the store, or if you are still uncomfortable just make sure the plant you are buying is labeled.Fun stuff. :)
