Loc Disaster! Gross sticky stuff inside my dreads

Help! Save My Dreads

thank you all for the comments and sorry for my delayed anwser - I haven't been online much lately. Rachel yes, that's exactly my problem too.. :( clean from the outside but grotty inside.. unfortunately I live central Europe and I can't really afford anything at the moment and the shipping is too expensive from the US. But I have found Tea Tree Oil which I'm thinking of trying. I might try vinegar too. And I've got some natural argan oil shampoo too, SE, do you think that would be ok? I've never tried these before, how long should I leave the tea tree+vinegar mix on for, or shuold i rinse it out immediately?

I'll let you all know how it went x

Loc Disaster! Gross sticky stuff inside my dreads

Help! Save My Dreads

I don't know about our water, but I think it's pretty clean - i'll find that out . Shampoos I've used.... well, since this started, I used Aussie once, Johnsons neutral shampoo, and some herbal shampoo , none of these were made for dreads. It looks exactly like wax but I never even got near to that stuff. Oh , and also I've been in the sea a few times when we were near it. Yes , I used coconut butter once or twice, but I think (now , I'm not sure here...) that I had this before I first tried that. And in the 4 years, I used baking soda wash about 6 times at the most.

thank you <3

Loc Disaster! Gross sticky stuff inside my dreads

Help! Save My Dreads

I've had my dreads for about 4 years now, and this started about a year ago. Whiteis-greyish sticky GROSS stuff in the inside of my dreads- not visible to others, but I notice it and I can fell that they've lost their soft touch aswell. I took a few pics to show, I started to undread a few of them so you can see the yuckiness. Btw since I've had this they also stink after I was them when they're still wet (when they're dry they're fine). You'd think it's wax, but I never used that.... I really don't know ,I've tried baking soda wash and natural vitamin shampoo etc but nothing helps! :( Sometimes I get so annoyed with it i just start undreading them and manicly trying to pick the stuff out,,,, I hope someone can help me, otherwise I might have to say goodbye to them which I'd hate to do ... :(

SE, just out of curiosity, why is it unlikely? is it true that it's unlikely to get lice in dreads? I'm pretty scared of getting it

Extremely thin roots... What to do?

Help! Save My Dreads

my dreads aren't too thick anyway, but the roots are just extraordinarly thin and I'm quite worried. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

my dreads are babies :) and are flattening :/

General Questions

no need to worry, that's what they do :) they will get rounder by time. though I do have some mature flat ones, but not too much, nothing to worry about. if u r really concerned, u can try wrapping them up for the night (never done that myself, but I've seen some ppl write about it on this site).

Mea's Timeline (avarage 8 months, neglect and tnr)

Member Journals and Timelines

So I threw away my brush about a year ago, and started with neglect, which wasn't too succesful since my hair is extra smooth and straight. I've only got one picture from that time...not too good though. (first pic)In august I gave up neglect, and did TnR to the rest of my hair that didn't really want to dread up.No wax used.I crocheted them a few times...not too tight tough, just gently. Please tell me what you think :)

Ugh. My dreads look like poop. POOP!

General Talk

don't worry I made about half of my dreads by tnr and at the beggining it was the same as u described it looked shit u could hardly recognize they were dreads and they were just a mess.u don't need much time: already after 2 or 3 months they looked waaaaaaaay better. although I did use crochet- not much though, maybe 3 times.don't worry! it"s really just matter of patience
