Help! Save My Dreads

I had the same issue when my children were small. I cut my first set because of the gross factor, I waited until they were teenagers before I started growing my dreads again. I wish i had known then about rubbingalcohol. I am still paranoid. If I am going to go somewhere that I have to sit in public (theater, doctor's office ....) I put tea tree in my hair. It won't kill bugs but it will keep them away :)

Help! Save My Dreads

The big part of getting rid of them is to wash everything. Carpets, furniture, clothes, towels...pillows blankets...everything. If it cannot be washed (like stuffed animals) bag it up in trash bags and put it in the basement or attic (somewhere that no one will be around it) for a couple of months. If this is not done...you will just keep getting them back. Also the treatment to your head should be done every 3 days not just once. Good luck with it.

Salon nightmare?

General Questions

well the way i see it you have a couple of choices. 1 undo them....let em heal for a little while and start from scratch 2 use the sections that you got at the salon as a guideline undo each section and very very gently t and r it or better yet let those sections dread naturally.3 don't do anything, let them loosen up and go from there. There is a lot of information here about crochet recovery.

would you cut off your dreds for your job

General Talk

no i would not cut off my locks for a present job or a future job. there are things in my life that have importance or pleasure. A job gives me the ability to achieve these. If the job keeps me from these...I don't want that job. The way i see it...i give a certain amount of time (years) for education. That gives me the qualification for a certain job..or jobs. After that i have choices. I can choose where i work. If a place is not for me....i will find another job. There are many jobs...but only one of me.

Four months of dreadlocks. Crochet Recovery

Dread Maintenance

as already stated...it is just gonna take time. Your babies are only 4 months old. Hair is gonna stick out off baby dreads. They haven't had time to mature yet. It takes at least a year for them to even start maturing. Crochett recovery is not gonna happen over night. When your dreads are mature there will be less hair sticking out of the them. There will always be some. Dreads are like fine wine...leave them alone and they will age beautifully!

thick or thin dreads for blonde hair

Dreading Methods

Bob Marley has the most famous dreads of all in our society. and they are neglect dreads. He sure never manufactured them. He may be mixed but his hair is African textured. Yes this thread went too far, but you will notice it was from 2010. So it is an old post. :)

residue free shampoo.

the point is....do you want to support a company like dhhq? every bottle of shampoo that you buy is supporting a company that pushes the use of wax. I personally would not give them my money. I would rather support a small business on ETSY.
