Hey guys. Stopping in to introduce myself

Introduce Yourself

So yesterday I finally decided to go ahead and finally start dreading. I decided to go with the backcombing method without wax or anything. They are really messy right now but Im totally fine with that. They will lock up eventually. I tried to backcomb rather gently as to not damage my hair but for the most part I think it went pretty well. From here Im just going to let nature take its course and see what happens. Let me know what you guys think. Im really excited to finally start this journey.

Dude, I have always loved the look of dreads but my parents never wanted me to have them. Now I am in college and have researched everything about them. I found that it is more than a look but is also a culture and lifestyle. It was so intriguing to me. Its really like a community and for me it really symbolizes freedom. It also really is a testament to the whole "patience is a virtue" idea.

Consider yourself saved!! From the corporate dickheads!

I've been avoiding saying something for a while, but I've had enough. I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but here it goes:

This entire thread comes down to one principle... one that we've been taught, and that I'm sure most of you are teaching your children: " You have to be responsible for your own actions"

Let's face it. KJC didn't hold anyone down and force them to wax their dreads... If you waxed, then you have to be held accountable for the fact that you were the one to make that choice and you had to deal with them in the long run (be it cutting, wax removal, ect). Sure, when I first started dreading and was looking for info, I found the site... but something in my brain went " There's no way that's the ONLY way... I can find a way to have dreadlocks without wax". I mean really, you have to question your own sanity if you honestly believed that wax was the only way to obtain dreadlocks. THINK people. It's asinine to blame a marketer for doing his job... and juvenile to spend 47 pages whining about it. Do I agree with his marketing tactics? No. Am I sticking up for the man? No. I am saying that he shouldn't be blamed for your actions. In the end, you were the ones who chose to wax or not, you were the ones who chose to believe his lies or look for other options. Suck it up and accept that KJC wasn't the one to hurt you or your dreads, you did it to yourself! No one is a victim of anything but personal ignorance. You saw was KJC had to say and gave up instead of finding your own way.

Worst of all is this rampant hate. SE, I can't believe that you spend so much of your time and energy hating and bashing this man. I'm all for spreading the good word and all, but by playing into this hateful game, you're only making yourself look bad; not only bad, but of a questionable mental state. Ultimately, you're fighting with a character... as if you were sitting down in front of Saturday cartoons and having a political debate with Wile E. Coyote...that's why we're not getting anywhere. The man himself may feel some remorse over what's happening (though that's debatable ), but this character that you're arguing with feels nothing....there's no way he could! And at this point he's doing the same thing to you guys now that I did to PETA fanatics when they used to come into Petsmart and harass me for doing my job as a Pet Care Associate... he's mostly ignoring you. Why not devote all the energy that you've spent fighting and hating into something more productive? Pick up a hobby, or work more on site development... why not spread the word in a more peaceful manner? One that doesn't make you look like a complete nut-job for arguing with a cartoon character. You of all people should know that in time the Karmic wheel will turn, and he will have to pay for his actions... it's not your job to pass judgement or punishment. People will find us as they need to. They always do. Stop fighting the flow, and start making the best of what you've got!

Short version : You're responsible for your own actions...ALL OF THEM... so start acting like it! Stop arguing with a cartoon character, and let karma do all the smiting. The hate is just going to rot your soul.

The thing is, I know everyone here is against the idead of wax and want him to remove it off his site and if he doesn't then hes scamming people. I dont think that is the case at all. Some people actually want to use wax. I mean I dont because it seems to do more harm than good but if people want to then he should sell it. Plus, he cant be blamed that people dont do their research

Well Johnny I'd like to say that you have my respect for coming onto this site knowing that you were definitely going to get a bunch of hate and anger towards you.So in my mind, maybe I'm just naiive, I feel like you are being sincere.Anyway, the problem that I think many have with wax, including myself, is that it is for those people that want dreads for a while as a "cool" hairstyle with no intentions of keeping them. For them, wax is great because it will do the job of making aethetically pleasing dreads fast. The problem is that when wax is advertised to make true dreads, people are being misinformed which is why all the people here are all upset. But maybe you could change the way in which you inform people about wax. That could potentially change some things. That, and to inform people on other methods.
