Am I Alone In This Revelation?

Life Issues Facing Dreads

i agree 100%. i guess that means we need to move:) if i had it my way i'd sell all of my stuff, buy an rv and travel the u.s. and get away from all these petty people. unfortunately my husband won't go for the idea. we do plan on still getting an rv and taking trips. hopefully meet some wonderful souls on our journeys. then one day burning man! yay:)

You know Heather, I think that is so true about California! We seem to have a surplus of vain, self-absorbed types here. When I go to pick up my kids from school there are these litle cliques of grown women who seem to turn their nose up if you don't look just "right". They all drive these big, expensive SUV's and they display their money by talking about it or showing everyone pictures of it. I don't deny anyone success after working hard...but these people seem to think that success makes them a better person too. I feel uncomfortable with this whole mentality and I tend to sit alone...thus, I become a target for their comments and appraisal. It is sad that this is the reality of too many places in our world.

i'm with you, sister! i think being so cal girls we have to deal with a lot of superficial, entitled people especially woman. sadly i don't even have friends because of this. i just don't have the need or want to "keep up with the joneses". i just haven't found any genuine individuals in my area. i refuse to be friends with people who are close minded, dishonest backstabbers. i have one person who i loosely call a friend but she lives over an hour away so we rarely see each other. i haven't even told her about my hair. i know exactly what her response will be. i'm not a confrontational person and she is. she feels that her way is the right way so i'm sure her response to my hair wouldn't be pretty. i just don't need that negativity in my life right now. dreading my hair hasn't changed me but thats probably because i tend to hide my hair because i hate it right now. i think it's age thats opened my eyes.

Shampoos and Soaps ~ Maybe get a list started

Dread Maintenance

libby is actually the owner of maylee's garden. maylee is her daughters name. she has a store on artfire. my first order with her didn't go very well because she wasn't answering emails. i've recently purchased some new soaps from her shop and she was wonderful. btw, i can't use her soap in my hair because of our hard water but they make wonderful body soaps:)

General Questions

tea tree oil can be very drying so watch how much you use. i know that some oil combinations can cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, etc. you might want to look into the different ones your using and make sure they can be used together.

Baking Soda White Mud Problem--Starting a New Shampoo?

Dread Maintenance

i really like desert essence organics lemon tea tree shampoo. gets your scalp and hair super clean and doesn't seem to be undoing any progress i'm having. what you need to get is a plastic squeeze bottle from a kitchen supply store. kind of looks like ketchup bottle. what i do is squirt a little shampoo in the bottle then add water to the top. shake it up and then squeeze it onto your hair concentrating on the scalp. then scrub your scalp a bit with your finger tips and rinse. works great!

Introduce Yourself

lol:) a tam is a loose fitting knit hat like this.... http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade?q=tam

i do sea salt sprays in my hair whenever i feel i need it. just wash your hair every couple of days or so and on the in between days just put your hair up when you shower. some people use a shower cap. don't go to bed with your hair wet because you'll regret it in the morning. lots of separating will be needed. just basically forget you have hair. don't try to over think it and you'll be fine.

so i basiclly started over question

Dread Maintenance

i think palm rolling was invented by wax sellers. they would tell you to palm roll to compress the wax into the hair. doesn't do much if you don't have a bunch of gunk in your hair.

Ok so I guess just let it be and it will start to do its own thing. Now when its starts to finally dread should I do alittle bit of palm rolling to get that nice rounded look?
