2 months photo, neglect

Dread Maintenance

a year and a half?? wow, this kind of scares me since i'm having such a hard time knotting. what i've been doing lately is a pretty strong sea salt spray in between washings and i'm also wearing a wool tam to bed at night. my hair is definitely separating better. but still at 6 months of not brushing i could probably run my fingers through the back of my hair. is your hair really soft? definitely wear a tam when your outside if its that windy. its probably not doing you any good.

Going Natural! I have some Q's though!

Dreading Methods

i saw this girl on youtube and she basically separated her hair by twisting her sections together. she has super curly hair so they dreaded really fast. you might try that when your separating your mats. it might help encourage your hair to stay separated during the dreading process. you wouldnt have to twist them tight or anything. here's the link to one of her video in case your interestedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3HWEtXIZX0. good luck with your natural journey:)

flat dreads

General Questions

all of mine seem to be developing flat. i personally don't like them. i wouldn't mind a few but i don't want a head full. i really hope it isn't permanent.

Loose holey roots, loose ends, itcheeeeeeeeez

General Questions

washing less means your scalp is still producing oils which in turn makes your hair soft and more resilient to knotting. wash 2 - 3 times a week and your hair should knot up more.

Garnier Pure Clean

Dread Products

someone asked about this last month. i took a pic of the ingredients list with my phone at the store. i didn't buy it because i wasn't sure. it has a lot of questionable stuff in it.

I totally forgot to get back to you on the kiss my face castle soap. I did get a few bottles from them. I've done a couple washes with it and it did it's job. Although I'm not 100% happy with it. I know a lot of people hate dread head hq, but I've always been happy using their shampoo. Seems to do a real good job.

Residue in 1 3/4 month old dreads :(

Help! Save My Dreads

also, i think flaking on our scalps is going to happen no matter what because we aren't brushing our hair and lifting the dead skin from our scalps. so a little flaking shouldn't be a reason to give up just yet.

Residue in 1 3/4 month old dreads :(

Help! Save My Dreads

i find that with the water here in orange county you really need to use more bs for it to really work. get a container with a lid and add 1/3 cup bs to 32 - 64 oz. of hot water. put the lid on and shake until its dissolved. i usually add a squirt of shampoo to the mix too for a really good cleaning plus it helps with the bs residue. was the stuff in your dreads flaky like dandruff or powdery like bs? did you have a dandruff problem before dreading? if so than you might consider getting a dandruff shampoo. i've heard neutrogena t-sal is a good one.

Twist dreads in black hair

Dreading Methods

theres a white girl on youtube that started her locks just by twisting her sections. she has super curly, coarse hair. i think it looks pretty amazing and if i had hair like hers i would've done it that way, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3HWEtXIZX0&feature=related
