Bunched ends

Dread Maintenance

my hair is wavy on top and curly underneath. its really soft loose curls though. of course these crazy ones are right in front framing my face. they're about 6 inches shorter than the rest of my hair, too. ugh.

Bunched ends

Dread Maintenance

well at least i'm not alone. i looked for pics all over the internet for people with dreads like this and couldn't find any. it started with the ones that were backcombed but now some of the natural hair is doing it too. its so weird. it's like flat paddle dreads.i'm really hoping they round out because i'm actually considering undoing the ones that are like this. i have 5 of them. the ends sucked up to so i'm worried they will be blunt tipped which is definitely not what i was hoping for.

Bunched ends

Dread Maintenance

i think i have the same thing. my hair zig zaged from the bottom up and now i have a clump of zig zags just hanging at the bottom. theyre really tight too. i personally hate them and hope that it all equals out over time.

How and Why? SHRINKING

General Talk

i think shrinkage depends on the hair type not the starter method.

make em smell nice

Dread Maintenance

here's a recipe a women with 15 yr old natural locks put on her blog. she calls it her anti lice spray but she says it smells good too.

"My lice prevention spray recipe:
in a small (100ml) spray bottle I put: about 5ml each of Geranium and Rosemary essential oils, 2ml of Lavender essential oil, and about 1ml each of tea tree and citronella oil (citronella is kinda optional, but it's also a good mozzie repellant). Then I top it up with water, give it a good shake, and spray on hair, especially around the neck and behind the ears, before *any* contact with other people, especially kids or hippies :P"

here's her blog entry in case your interested. http://majikfaerie.blogspot.com/2011/03/fifteen-year-dreadversarry.html

dread accelerator sea salt and lemon juice

Dread Products

sun-in lightens your hair with the heat of a blow dryer because of the main ingredient peroxide.

Heat will cause lemon juice to lighten your hair. It is one of the ingredients used in a product called Sun In that is used to lighten the hair. You can use it either in the sun OR with a hair dryer.

Did Dr. Bronner's Undo My One Month Neglect Progress?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

just so you know, eyeheartchrist does comment on one of his early videos when someone asks how he got his hair to lock up so short he says he used to mess with it. on another video he shows some of the sections he recently t&r'd. i personally don't care what he did to get his amazing dreadlocks but i wanted you to know so you didn't think you were failing somewhere because you couldn't get your hair to lock up at that length.

Stopping the congos

Dread Maintenance

wrap the unruly ones in hemp starting at the top and crisscrossing all the way down the length of the dread. it should encourage them to tighten up and stop grabbing the other hair. just keep an eye on them because over time they will try to pull the hemp into the dread too.

1 week Natural

General Questions

tea tree oil can be very drying so watch how much you use. i know that some oil combinations can cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, etc. you might want to look into the different ones your using and make sure they can be used together.
