Baking Soda makes my hair dirty :(

Dread Maintenance

i agree with ron. its probably your water. try adding a little shampoo to your bs mix. it will help remove the residue but you'll still get the benefit of deep cleansing from the bs.

Dreads length, how long do your dreads take to grow?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

i personally don't like cooked veggies. i even eat corn on the cob raw. i think its a hereditary thing for me. my mom has long hair to her butt but it took her 10 years to get it that long.

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

i eat a good healthy vegetarian diet and unfortunately as i'm getting older my hair is slowing in growth. it has always been strong, shiny, and healthy though.

se is incredibly lucky. average hair growth is 1/2" a month or 6 inches a year.

Tousle or Not to Tousle

Dread Maintenance

yeah, i'm with taye on this one. i used to do the same kind of tousling before dreads just to pump up the volume so to speak because of the fine, thin texture of my hair. just be careful not to pull on the hair at all. what i do now is just flip my hair so its hanging down and then kind of shake it. it helps to separate things a bit after a wash but its not too agrressive that it will undo any knots.

Dr Bronners.

General Questions

dr. bronners doesn't work for me because of our hard water but i know a lot of people like it. i know se says to dilute it because it says something like that on the bottle but i've heard quite a few people say that it works better undiluted and its easier to rinse out. maybe try it both ways. even still if you want to dilute it in the 2oz bottle i would just add about a tsp and the rest water. find the way that works for you and go for it:)

Washing dread tams

Dread Products

assuming your hat is wool than just fill a sink with cold water and add a tiny bit of soap (laundry soap, baby shampoo or even dr. bronners). swish around and squeeze gently then rinse well with clean cold water. gently squeeze out excess water. lay the hat on a towel and roll it up and press down on it to help the towel absorb the water in the hat. remove it from the towel and lay the hat somewhere to dry. hth:)
