when i started my dreads (rant)

General Talk

Yes the worlds gone mad for sure and most people don't know their own insanity! Yes we live in an instant gratification throw away society, yet within humanity, there is an underlying sense of emptiness felt by a lot of people (increased rates of depression, alcoholism etc). we've been on a journey of dicovery, but in a time of technological advancement I beleive it's gonna come round full circle, people comin back to their roots........

Reasons for choosing dreadlocks?

General Talk

Big up to you all for being so open & honest ( find it really difficult myself) it's great that we can on this forum. I've seen so many on the internet where people are so rude to each other, guess thats life in general. My school years were pretty rough too. Now learning to embrace my differences & me proud of my uniqueness XXX

Reasons for choosing dreadlocks?

Thanks for all the responses, really interesting & insightful to read. It's so true that we can learn so much through the dread journey. Patience & letting go of control are two of the biggest for me. It's amazing that from a 'hairstyle' we can learn so much

Reasons for choosing dreadlocks?

General Talk

Hello all,I've just been having a look at the lovely book 'Dreads' which along with awesome portraits, the people featured in it give their various reasons for choosing dreadlocks.I'm interested to hear from the people on this forum their reasons for choosing dreads. For me it represents my connection to nature and my striving towards unification with the universal creator, whatever name we choose to give this, God, Jah, Allah, Krishna.Whats your? : )

Hello all

Introduce Yourself

Thats the point I was trying to make, there is no such thing as a 'bad dread day' just days when I look in the mirror and feed myself my own negativity. Thats the biggest part of my journey, learning that things don't have to be neat & tidy to be good & learning to love the way things are naturally. Xxx

Hello all

Introduce Yourself

Just wanted to say a big thank you, for all the advice on this website. Been thinking about having dreads for years and given much consideration over the last year. This website really helped me decide which method to use and to skip on the wax!Profile picture was taken just after I dreaded using the twist and rip method, on the bus back from San Fran, on a recent trip to U.S. Must say a few weeks on their not looking so neat but hey ho, we all have 'bad dread days' right and it's all gud XXXX
