It depends on how small you keep the sections (I'm only a month in natural, mind you, so that's the only direct experience I have). But from what I've read, it's best to keep them small in the beginning, as they thicken up over time

what kind of dreads? It'll make dreads... I'm not sure what you're asking here. They'll be thick or thin depending on how you separate, if that's what you mean

I got started making peyote stitches with the help of knottysleeves. It's awesome that you want to start! It's a lot of fun.

I was lucky enough that my mother had inherited a bunch of beads and supplies from a woman who did a lot of beading, so I had everything I already needed at my disposal, including books. I looked through the books, and looked on YouTube for tutorials on the basics (I'm a visual learner; books aren't always the greatest teachers for me) and I refused to stop until I had it right, no matter how messy my first sleeves turned out (the first one was very messy!)

When it comes to making designs, I just mix a couple of colours and alternate them, or use them at random, or just use one colour entirely. I'm only just starting to figure out how to make stripes.

Mildew worries, how concerned should i be about dread-rot? and what do you think of Dr. Bronners?

I have the lavender Dco Brons at home. Is there any way I can tell if my water is hard or not? I never understood what hard or soft water was.

Getting discouraged with progress. suggestions?

I would just leave them alone, to be honest They're still young! They'll lock up, just need more time. You'll get there <3

I definitely have a friend who may want to come, but I won't know for sure if he can until closer to the date. I don't have facebook, so I'm not sure I'd be able to see the page. When you figure out the dates you'll be there for, I'd love to know so I can try and plan accordingly as time gets closer

The gathering is during the full moon of August ( the 13) I think it last a month a few weeks before and after. I will keep you informed. If you need a ride there I can give you one. I will be going for a week.
