Itchy and Scabby Scalp! Help!

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Apparently the locking gel they put in my hair has a lot of synthetic fragrances :( also I think that the shampoo they used has protein in it. haha omg what a mess. So next time I go I'm going to use a different locking gel that's all natural / organic and shampoo that doesn't have protein ingredients. Hopefully that will work! Josh said:
I read that it's common the fragrance in the Gel can cause an allergic reaction.

Itchy and Scabby Scalp! Help!

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Sooo I went back to the salon but went to a different loctician on saturday. I told her about how itchy my scalp was even if I oiled it everyday. She gave me an anti-itch serum which I put on my scalp last night because after 2 days my scalp is itchy... Doesn't seem to be working. I'm thinking that it could be the shampoo or the locking gel they are using. So i'm going to investigate what ingredients could cause me to have a reaction. My mom told me that products with protein can cause a reaction. Does anyone know of any other ingredients in products known to cause allergic reactions? Also it probably would be wise to see a doctor. I have in the past and they didn't help me :( But who knows maybe I should find another doctor. Josh said:
To be honest i think this is just a medical condition. Seeing a doctor would be best.

Itchy and Scabby Scalp! Help!

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I've been reading up on the forum and trying to find advice about having an itchy scalp and in the first stages of locking. I haven't washed my hair since I've started the process of locking my hair (3 1/2 weeks ago) and I've been going crazy scratching since the 2nd day! I've been using peppermint oil and other natural oils such as jojoba. Now I have dandruff and scabs :( !! I've had issues with my scalp previously when I had a relaxer in my hair. Then I stopped and had an afro for 2 years and washed my hair every 6 days. I had no problems! My loctician told me not to wash in between visits to the salon (every 4 weeks) but from reading other advice I should wash my hair (?)...I'm used to washing it every 6 days so should I continue my regular routine? I'd appreciate any help! Thanks!
