dread wax use

Dread Products

Yeah I mentioned the wax could be used for lip balm. This is great if you do not want to wait for beeswax to come by mail. I used this recipe.

Peppermint Oil

Cocoa Butter

Beeswax (Insert dread wax)

Jojoba/almond/advocado oil.

I ordered black tubes online but you can use the travel tubes from the dollar store or old lip balm containers.

Locs- 1 year maintenance ?'s

Dread Maintenance

I went to the loctician process as well so I know how costly it becomes on a monthly basis. To make matters worse I would leave the salon and think "Damn, I could have done that at home.

So now I do. I purchased an overhead dryer($29), some lock, twist, rasta lock gel ( I was too lazy to hunt down an aloe plant or aloe gel from the local vitamin shoppe) .

I plan on going natural soon but I don't like to throw away things, so that is why I am using these products until I run out. Wash your hair, (liquid black soap) Then palm roll. That is if you want the salon experience.

Drying Dreads?

Dread Maintenance

I would wash my dreads in the daytime that way they can air dry. I know others are not going to approve but I bought an overhead dryer and use it when I have to apply lock gel at night time. I don't do it often, only once a month or two. But wash and air dry is the best idea.

Where I live,

General Talk

I live in South Florida, there are a lot of Carribean immigrants so it is actually the opposite for me. The thing is alot of them get them "manicured" by family, friends or a loctician.

The Beach

Dread Maintenance

Your pictures are huge, they take forever to load. Just wash them with some natural soap ( Dr Bronners, Black soap, etc) and you will be fine.

I need opinions please.

Dreading Methods

I'm not going to lie. I went to a stylist and she twisted it. I went to some hair salons to get updates every month but I stopped going around October. Sadly I every do use Rasta Lock Twist products and when I apply the gel I do a bit of twisting (and an attempt at what I thought was palm rolling)

how often do you wash your locks?

Dread Maintenance

I don't even feel gross for saying this: Once a month.

I admit that I do palm roll my locks after I wash them, so I try to give it a month to grow out. During the month I use sproil and some other oil on my scalp.

When I used to have box braids or Senegalese twists I used to wash my hair every two months.
