Loose roots

Dread Maintenance

Yeah, they will. Most people that use a starting method like twist and rip or backcombing find that they loosen up, some even coming right out, but that is just the gaur moving and fixing itself so it can turn itself into nice, tight dreads.Don't worry, dreads will happen. You just need patience (:

Loose roots

Dread Maintenance

You're doing nothing wrong. Twist and rip doesn't create dreads. It helps you form a starting base, but only time can help you have dreads.Once you twist and rip, don't re-do it. Keep your dreads clean, separate when needed (so as congos don't form) and leave your hair to do it's own thing. All you need is time.

Dread Maintenance

I agree with SE, you have no reason to feel frumpy or unattractive! You're beautiful and even more so with dreadlocks. We are our own worst critics. Once you get some pictures up and we see how great you look, you'll start to feel differently

uneven dreads!

Introduce Yourself

Like everyone else says, they look great. You'll notice the difference more than anyone else.Wait it out, see how things go. As time goes on, new dreads will start popping up so in the end, it'll most likely even itself out anyways

Dreading Methods

I'm with Knotty. My dreads are twist and rip and I don't panic about every little change. Intact, I embrace it.If you have the patience, you should think about going natural/neglect. If you want something that is a bit more 'instant gratification', I would advise t'n'r. But remember, they can loosen up, fall apart. And even though you can see 'dreads, it's still a journey that takes time.
